Watching a TDBarrett franchise video rn and the Titans dude has #22 on Derrick Henry, his TE, and his LT. Plus I've seen multiple teams with two #11s on the field at once.
It's always been that way. I don't remember back to the early '90s when I started or before mut that well but you might have been able to change numbers. With the pretty complex structure and economy of mut you just roll with it. Would think it would be easy to just the numbers manually but that would lead to constant glitches/hacks/scams... ea can barely keep mut running the way it is. Number change on "goods" in a fairly complex, set economy with many options to shift it in many directions, would make it a mess. Besides, it happens but it's not common enough to cause much confusion. Would be more confusing having players not wear their actual numbers.

I meant in Franchise mode, I’m well used to Ultimate Team numbers but I’ve never seen franchise mode allow more than one of the same number
Oh. Sorry. Haven't played outside of UT since ea started it. The old even matched, no pay to win days really were the best. I probably spend more time setting up my team then I do playing... for some reason...
