For the first time in Patrick Mahomes’s career, the Chiefs have been beaten at home twice in a row by a single team. A late touchdown grab by WR Mike Williams put the Chargers ahead 31-24 with less than a minute left, and the Los Angeles defense held strong to end it.
The Lions had the Ravens behind 17-16 with around a minute left in the 4th quarter, but Lamar Jackson converts on a huge 4th down to set up Justin Tucker to kick the longest field goal in NFL history; Tucker kicks a 66-yard field goal as time runs out to win the game 19-17. Lions fall to 0-3 and the bottom of the NFC North, while the Ravens fly to 2-1, with a 3-way tie for first in the AFC North.
The Saints dominate the Patriots early in Gillette Stadium to pull out the 28-13 win and the 2-1 record to tie for third in the NFC south with the Falcons. New Orleans forces 3 INTs including a 34-yard pick six from safety Malcolm Jenkins. The Patriots and rookie Mac Jones aren’t looking good early in the season with a 2-1 record, third in a division that is led by the 2-1 Bills. Jameis Winston continues to shine with a 97.1 QBR and a 5-2 touchdown to interception ratio.
The Bengals rally for a win against the Steelers 24-10, with linebacker Logan Wilson leading the defense with 2 interceptions, and rookie receiver Ja’Marr Chase hauling in 4 receptions for 65 yards and 2 touchdowns. The bengals now are 2-1, tied for 1st in their division, while the Steelers are 1-2 trailing the rest of the highly competitive AFC North.
Ryan Tannehill throws for 3 touchdowns while Derrick henry gains 144 total yards to beat their division rival Colts 25-16 in the Music City. Carson Wentz goes silent with 0 TDs, but also throws no INTs. Colts defense wins the turnover battle 3-0, but isn’t able to produce on offense with the exception of 3 Rodrigo Blankenship field goals and 1 rushing touchdown from Nyheim Hines and 64 Jonathan Taylor rushing yards. The Colts fall to 0-3 with the Titans rising to 2-1, leading their AFC South diviision.
Josh Allen throws for 4 touchdowns and rushes for a TD, leading the Bills to a 43-21 win over the Washington Football Team. Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders hit a 5-94-2 receiving line, with fellow receiver Cole Beasley££ catching 11 passes for 98 yards. On the Washington side of the ball, a 73-yard TD pass from Taylor Heinicke to running back **Antonio Gibson was the single bright spot with the defense playing heavily under expectations and the offense producing very little to match the Bills. The Bills now sit at 2-1 and lead their division while Washington falls to 1-2, being 3rd in the NFC East, awaiting either Dallas or Philadelphia to be tied with based on the outcome of Monday night’s game.
The Cardinals beat the Jaguars today, 31-19, continuing Lawrence’s lackluster rookie season. The cardinals pulled in 2 interceptions on Trevor Lawrence, making it 7 on the season with him only throwing 5 touchdowns. James Conner of Arizona rushes for 43 yards and 2 touchdowns, while MVP-front runner QB Kyler Murray throws for 316 yards, mainly to receivers Christian Kirk and AJ Green. Despite an insane 109-yard field goal kick return TD by Jamal Agnew of the Jaguars, the cardinals pull out the win and fly to 3-0 atop their division, with the Jaguars at 0-3 tied with the Colts for last in the AFC South.
The Browns shut down rookie Justin Fields in his first NFL start, keeping the Chicago offense off the field. Winning 26-6, Cleveland’s star running backs Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb rush for a combined total of 165 yards, with Kareem hunt rushing for 81 yards and a TD and receiving for 74 yards. Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. makes his return catching 5 passes for 77 yards. The Browns rise to 2-1 to be featured in the 3-way tie for first in the AFC North.
The Falcons pull out a win against the Giants at MetLife Stadium with a 17-14 score after a last-second FG from Younghoe Koo. Receiver/running back and legendary kick returner Cordarelle Patterson headlines the Falcons with 102 all-purpose yards, while New York QB Daniel Jones passes for 266 yards, utilizing Saquon Barkley, Collin Johnson, and Kenny Golladay to his advantage. The Giants fall to 0-3 at the bottom of their NFC east divison, and the Falcons are at 1-2, still 4th in the competitive NFC south division.
