Creeds Identifier work when backup?

I know it's probably been answered already, but I don't remember the answer... Does Creed's Identifier work if it's activated, but he is a backup?

No it doesn't.  They have to be in the game for abilities to work.

Let me clarify, you can activate his ability as a backup but unless he is actively playing it will not work.  Hope that helps.
