I've always said that MUT isn't pay to win but it can be pay to have an advantage or at the very least pay to have an equal field with your opponent considering most people have pretty much the same overall team when facing each other in H2H. As a money spender I enjoy spending money on packs and stuff and actually wouldn't mind mut being a little more pay to win i suppose. We all know its scheme over team though, just like IRL. This year has been the lowest amount of money I've spent on MUT since i started playing the game mode back in Madden 25. You don't have to spend alot on MUT to have a good competitive team and you don't need the newest cards to compete. I usually hoard coins and try to be patient and make smart decisions in regards to my team. I see guys who have 15-20m coins and 99ovr trams buying packs and I just think it can be a waste of money after a certain point. I can tell a big difference in the amount it costs to get the best players in mut the past few years compared to back in mut25 or mut 15 and its alot cheaper now it seems. So many different boosts to raise card overalls and all the free players from solo challenges makes it to where most players have great teams especially if you played the game all year since launch. I personally like how Mut is set up and hope they make mut24 the best one yet.
yes.......gotta pay to get the golden abilities now, gotta pay for the top tier ebooks (not the trash bare min youtube ebooks lol), etc etc etc....just watch when M24 drops and your nms 78 ovr theme team is playing 87/88 ovr teams 3 hrs into the game lol
It's undeniable that someone who spends money on MUT will have an easier time getting coins than someone who doesn't spend money. It's much easier and faster to just buy a pack off the market than it is to build profitable sets or flip cards.
I won't deny that there is an element of skill that prevents it from completely being pay 2 win. Having a good scheme can help you against opponents with a better team than you.
At the same, having better players is also an advantage. There can be a noticeable difference in how cards with different stats play. Additionally, abilities also affect how a card plays. In fact, abilities are often the difference between cards with the same stats with similar stats being good or bad. Abilitiy discounts also mean you can fit more players with good abilities/discounts on your team. Items with good abilities/discounts are more desirable and thus often more expensive compared to similar ovr cards. Advantage goes to those who have access to more coins/training here and thus can afford players with better abilities.
NMS players can succeed and have great teams. But it requires at least a decent time investment to make up the difference.
In my opinion anything like MUT where you can pay to progess faster is pay2win.
Yes especially in the early game when your just booting up a game and facing someone who spent $400 and has the best team in the game.
It’s pay for advantage but not pay to win. May just take longer to catchup
I started late so didn't spend too much. There was a fire pack that was worth it. I will spend when the deal is actually good, and for the sake of time or grind burn out I'll buy then too.
It’s possible to be NMS but you gotta be commuted to the grind like 4-5 hours a day. I definitely spend real money on the game besides preorder. Not much just a couple hundred. It’s probably a dumb idea but whatevs
I’ve honestly done pretty decent these past 3 maddens on not spending much money however it’s still money spent😂 Most i’ve spent is $25. Just to get a slight advantage so I would say it’s pay to progress faster imo. this madden has been a grind fest for me and i’ve been a NMS team and have a full 98OVR.
I'm NMS, have been playing Madden every year since M25 and have never bought a pack. This year I picked up the game in March and had a decent side after about 2 weeks of playing catchup on the solos. I honestly don't think it's that hard to do and I don't get why people spend real money to get players that are maybe the same or marginally better? I'd say that even early on I was competitive in 90% of my H2H games.
Personally, I've no issue with players spending money and if it's your thing, you can afford it and enjoy it then fair play, it's your money. I've no doubt that if you get the game in August and spend some $ you'll have a better side early on but NMS players that put the time in will catch up. Probably around Harvest Promo. It's not really "pay to win" though as buying the best team and playing like an idiot and you'll still lose far more than you win.
imagine having this conversation in person and saying no way this EA game is not pay to win! Its most pay to win at the start of the year. Think about you fumble away $1000s and have the best team. You go to the playoffs and lose because a NMS sweat DCs you. If you avoid the DCs and starting winning SBs you get all the trophy packs, coins & perks of being in Legend and MVP division. meanwhile a clone of you is barely making it to the playoffs in All-star and Veteran. So the dudes with the good teams will dunk on starter teams until Most feared comes around. Hence why I suspect EA took away the trophy packs & coins from the SB winners early in the year.
I have a spent a total of 1 dollar on packs and ebooks combined. That was a sale on civil.gg this week. I have never felt like I was at a disadvantage, even with a team 3-4 OVR subpar. I’ve never had a 99 OVR team and I don’t really play solos

I did all the RP sets and I spent $12 total…..but grinding solo battles and challenges isn’t fun at all…considering not even doing 24 with the starter god squad all set…
Just took out a new line of credit so I can drop $10,000 on M24 drop day. Interest free for 12 months so consider it a capital investment to make my life easier for the first couple weeks of MUT. See you on the gridiron
Pay for a advantage but it doesn't take that much grinding to get a tab similar to a money spending player
