We can't even imagine what football or any gaming will be like in twenty years. But we know it will be fun.
Martyr1968 said:What "CEO" doesn't account for is that in 5 years there will likely be a competing football.game.and Madden on console.woll be dead just like what happened on mobile
Wrong, in my opinion. All due respect.
Humans are infatuated with "names" and "likenesses"....
Thats why EA pays for them.
EA is really behind in my opinion. Like, a lot...
Do I care? Not really. But I know they're behind.
Most gaming is.
GTA really has a chance to take over gaming. Even they're behind and they're ahead of any sports games.
SIMS could as well.
Gaming will be people with VR headsets living in a virtual world, selling virtual good.
Now, who is going to win that race?
Best thing is you have one company with an open-source platform.....
Basicslly a VR world with apps that intertwine into the VR world....(metaverse)

See above.

CEO ANDREW WILSON SAYS ADVANCEMENTS IN AI PROVIDE A MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR GROWTH OPPORTUNITY
Over the next five years, Wilson hopes that generative AI will make EA’s development 30% more efficient, help grow its 700 million-strong player base by “at least” 50%, and lead to players spending 10-20% more money on its games.
Uggh. These people are absolute morons, using COVID numbers to estimate their mad gainz over the coming years -- there is absolutely zero chance of them increasing their player base by at least 50%. I wouldn't be surprised if the gaming numbers continue to shrink in a post-COVID world, however, I know nothing. Still probably more than Mr. Wilson.
I suspected this was already happening, no more fire card art from the creative team, which used to be a rare but consistent high point in MUT even when the actual cards themselves were mid... how much you wanna bet that sweet sweet woodgrain hue on Ultimate Legends, or the solid purple TOTY is almost certainly a result of these ongoing attempts to use generative AI? They can't help themselves from seeing dollar signs.
No offense, but I think it’s short sighted for us to think we know more about business than he does. He certainly knows more about how to grow a business, he just doesn’t care if he makes a fun game
In twenty years it might be what we can't yet envision that will be the most compelling. What ever it is, it will be hungry for energy.
Fuck EA that's all I gottta say man everyone on here made good points
And idc ab the numbers, MUT is literally a dying game mode and they're crazy thinking they're gonna grow that shit by 50% when THEIR BIGGEST MODE IS DYING. They've taken stock price over all else( like many other companies as stated earlier in thread) and it leads to a worse product for us while they sit back and profit along with their shareholders. that's the only group benefiting from this shit ass game

RA is going to lose rights and exclusive licensing with the NFL
Why do u think they dropped the Kelcw tribute card so fast?. They will. Be losing his rights
I'm not even really sure how what you wrote correlation to my post because you went off on like 6 different tangents but I've been in corporate finance for 35 years and I've also seen a.lot of. Video game franchises come and go. When 2K had licensing they were preferred over Madden. NBA 2K outsells Madden. What do u think happens.when 2K once again produces a rival game?
On top of that, Madden has taken a huge step backwards this year. The Bd of directors mace this year an ultimatum year and Madden has thoroughly disappointed
I was there when Madden mobile fell off the planet in record time.Everything points to the same thing happening on console

Maybe the NFL will decide they want a game that will attract more people and be less sweaty. More people on an NFL video game means more people watching games or more games on TV, merchandising sales and much more. Imagine what you could do with a football simulation that put as much emphasis on promoting the game as it does in tossing cash.

Heh, this is an extremely common misconception -- that somehow the people in positions of power are the best and brightest among us. I used to think that way, as well. I mean, we all hope that there's some big brains steering the sheep and they have their priorities in order and understand how to run a Fortune 500 corporation. /sigh
Sadly, this is simply not the case in my experience. Typically short-term profits are prioritized over everything else, which is how we wind up in this unfortunate position. I'd love to be wrong here, but to think this dude has any clue about the broad video game market trends is giving him far too much credit, IMO. I'm convinced these chumps saw the COVID era numbers when people were literally trapped indoors all the time and used that to forecast out 5-10 years, or more. Spending is trending in the opposite direction, i'm not sure we'll have more video game consumers than during peak-COVID.
peatrick said:The latest info I could find suggests this was extended through May 2026, so we've got a couple more years to go, oof. Source: https://www.polygon.com/2020/5/28/21270647/madden-nfl-ea-renew-contract-license-football
Financial terms of the renewal were not disclosed. Asked for information about the extension’s length, an NFL representative confirmed to Polygon that the new contract runs for six years “starting today,” taking the agreement through May 2026. The rep also said the contract includes a provision for a one-year extension at the end. That additional year depends on EA hitting certain revenue targets, reports The MMQB’s Albert Breer.
As Polygon previously reported, the NFL’s old deal with EA was scheduled to expire in early 2022, at the end of the 2021 NFL season. The renewal will carry the Madden series through what would be Madden NFL 26. Assuming that EA’s typical cadence continues, that game will be released in the summer of 2025 — 20 years after Madden NFL 06, the first entry in the franchise under the exclusive contract. EA’s original agreements with the NFL and its players’ union were announced in December 2004, wiping out any and all competing products (including Sega and Take-Two Interactive’s beloved NFL 2K franchise).
At this point, our only hope seems to be that perhaps EA will be SO full of themselves that they no longer think they need to hold (or pay for) the exclusive rights, but there's zero chance they want to deal with actual competition, so whatever it costs them, i am worried they'll pay it. However, the Generic `Murican Fatball Club Game could always become a possibility, thinking how EA handled FIFA, which i would have also assumed was popular. Although nothing brings in the dinero liek the NFL.
I just posted about this in a diff thread ill go find it and copy paste here lol j think we are thinking on the same page lol

This a bajillion percent -- I'll never forgive EA for robbing me of the opportunity to sit down and have wonderful 2P local H2H fatball gameplay with my son while he was little. This buggy ass game left him in tears so many different times we had to simply move on. NBA2K is far from perfect, but at least we could get through four quarters of hoops without multiple game-breaking bugs and glitches. Hell, professional QBs can barely throw the ball to start the season. Hanging the ball out there liek a wounded duck using a QB without any abilities is a painful experience to me and i've got hundreds upon hundreds of hours of gameplay.
Imagine how frustrating that must be for a young kid. He loves the NFL, i wanted to use this game to help continue teaching him all the rules, but it's impossible for him to sit down and really enjoy this on his own, because everything is so pay to win... if it works at all. To this day, i still have extremely fond memories of Tecmo Bowl as a child. Four+ decades from now, my son isn't going to recall his time with Madden.
You are so absolutely spot-on correct with the above assessment, an entire generation of potential fans are missing the bus here.
