Help me order my RBs!

Hey guys, I run a pats theme team and honestly, we have too many good running backs. Tell me how you would start these backs based on a HB1 (primary ballcarrie) 3DB (passing back) and PWHB(Short yardage/Goalline)

TD2 Curtis Martin

TOTY Patterson

Legend Blount

SB James White

I also have TD1 Kevin Faulk but he’s too slow and is benched until his next upgrade.

it’s worth mentioning Im a pocket passer (Brady) so having a RB as a checkdown is a huge part of my gameplan so my 3DB probably gets more use than HB1 honestly.

I’ve used him a bit without abilities and he’s been solid but not spectacular… do you use any abilities on him?

Here’s how I‘d put it:

- HB1: Curtis Martin

- 3DRB: Cordarelle Patterson

- PWHB: Legarrette Blount

- I would quicksell James White for abilities and power up training for the others, he wouldn’t go anywhere in that RB room

- Depending on who your FB is, I would also sub in Blount at FB on the goal line and short yardage plays, and either fake to him and pitch/pass or just hand it to him and he should power through

- Also, you can sub in Martin at FB and Patterson at HB if you’re wanting to run a 2 RB in the backfield gun formation like Gun Split Close and run both of them as receiving backs because they’re good passing options out of the backfield

2 questions though

- Like I said I pass a lot to my RB. I was using backfield master on Faulk for the longest time and loved it. I only have 1 AP to spare and BF master cost 2 on Patterson as opposed to 1 on White. Since I have HRM on brady, will BF mismatch at 1 AP do the same thing?

- Would you recommend mismatch or jukebox/spin cycle on Patterson?

I believe Backfield Mismatch is better catching against LBs while Backfield Master is better route running. However, I don’t think the route running is very essential to RBs like it is WRs. If you have HRM, Backfield Master isn’t worth the training and extra AP. It sucks that Patterson isn’t a receiving back, strange because he’s a former WR. So definitely use Patterson and get Backfield Mismatch on him as opposed to taking the 5 OVR downgrade to White since Patterson’s route running is better anyway. Now for the second question. I would suggest Backfield Mismatch more because on Texas routes (which is in my opinion one of the best, if not the best, RB route) you’ll be less likely to drop the pass against an MLB which is usually where you’re running towards on that route. With Patterson’s high juke, juke box isn’t really necessary. Also, what I’ve noticed is Juke Box isn’t as effective this year in my experience because the Juke/spin move is less likely to succeed as opposed to the significant catching vs LBs boost from Mismatch. All in all I suggest taking mismatch and using that because in short-yardage situations, a Texas route with Mismatch is very good if you’re using your RB as a heavy passing option. The good thing is, if mismatch isn’t producing well enough or if you’re more of a short out RB route user, you can always switch to Juke Box or Spin Cycle, which is good when throwing flats/RB out routes.
