Played a few cheesers who ran the same few plays - mostly bench and PA cross
How do you counteract this?

Nobody knows.? or nobody wants this stopped so they can keep cheesing
I use cover4 if they are using routes that break deep outside like that. If that doesn't work I'll stay in cover 4 but switch the purple zone cover to man on the guy that he's throwing to. That usually works for me as long as I'm getting decent qb pressure with my line

User it
if they running pa slot cross run cover 4
if its bench do cover 2, set your blue flats at 30, purples at 5.
put 2 players that are in vert hooks into purple flats, and shade up

The top 3 ways to stop this are:
1) Man coverage
2) Man coverage
3) Man coverage
Use something like Cover 1 hole and user the crosser over the middle of the field. Shade outside.
there is no fixed way to stop it… just utilize zone drops and match coverage to place zones where u want on the field

Have you tried to man it up? I usually run man and it seems to stop bench and bench swap, etc........crossers are supposed to beat man but not so much in Madden 23.
nymnbr1 said:thanks.. will try both
You could also change zone drops depending on what zones you run and which routes are beating you. If it is the out routes, set clouds to 10 yards for example, and shade outside pre-play
first Coach adjustments. Put flats at 30 yards and curl Flats at 10. Call a cover 2 Defense ( i use 3-4) put both Outside Linebackers in curl flats, Put one Middle Linebacker in Deep seam and user the other Middle Linebacker. I use this to get best results

I agree with this. I'll Cover 2 - Man, someone to death. Shade outside and cover the middle with either a blitzer or I'll drop back with a lineman if they're really dotting me. My key is to just make them second guess. Most people have 1 or 2 reads, and if you cover that they'll usually make a mistake.
I'll also throw in some blitzes to mix it up. And even mix up my blitzes. You just have to try things and see what works and doesn't work.
Hybrid. Zone with two flats and man up the two outside receivers. User the middle

If they have short in elites or route tech they can cook u or they’ll just agg u
i have pretty good success running cover 3 out of nickel, hard flats, man up the RB side TE with the MLB. My two Deep Out KO's usually knock down the flag routes, my deep in zone KO helps out with deep middle, and I usually take care of everything underneath. It's not 100% effective, but for the guys that just continue to run the same plays over and over, it usually does the trick.
Dollar 3-2-6. DB FIRE 2 Commanders Playbook. I use this defense for every formation. It can't be weak boxed, but they will run on it. Make sure you put a DT with 1 AP inside stuff. Adjustments: Show blitz to bring up your safeties, pinch D LINE, put blitzing DB on side of corner route on a curl flat (purple zone), User a LB (sub in safeties of course), and either man up the other or put him on a purple as well. You are responsible for covering the middle. Look out for streaking TE's, or any post routes, slants coming your way. Coaching adjustments: BASE, AUTO FLIP OFF, Option: conservative for those QB run option plays, curl flats to 25 yards, and hard flats to 5 yards. Sometimes I adjust my hard flats (outside corners) to Deep outside zones.
