How to play a budget friendly defense?

So I've tried quite a few things at this point. Man, zone, hybrid, blitzing, not blitzing, etc. Nothing works for me reliably so far. I assume part of the defect is the player running this defense, but aside from that there seems to be an issue of how to build a defense on a NMS budget. I've tried Deion Sanders and Tre Brown for man coverage because they were affordable (I found Tre for less than 300k at the time) and they were garbage. Probably because they get beat when pressing. So I would go man without pressing and they STILL would get beat pretty quickly. This is with the +3 MCV boost between Eberflus and the strategy item btw. I tried zone, figuring that might be a way to get around this, but holy freaking crap, zone coverage sucks more than Hoover® even if you have 90+ zone everywhere. They do really dumb crap. What the heck should I do at this point? I'm considering maybe Pat Pete+Woodson which would be pretty expensive on coins but not out of the question entirely, since they can do both. But both have let me down so far so meh.

I would say pick a theme team and rock that for the +2 speed, it will probably help you out the most.  Should be able to get 50/50 on just coins eventually. I cannot use MCV at all, I play 100% ZCV and do fairly well..still get burnt sometimes but thats bound to happen

First thing you gotta keep in mind is that defense sucks in general this year. 

For me, if my opponent comes out in anything that isn’t singleback or iform,  I run a mix of cover 3s and 4s out of nickel 3-3, and big nickel. I would stick to zone for sure. In coach adjustments I put align base, corner matchups by ovr (maybe do by speed if you’re budget), option defense conservative and I put my flats on 25 yard drops and curl flats on fives. This def isn’t 100% but its the most consistent defense I’ve found. 

When they come out in a run set I’ll go into 4-4. 

For on field adjustments, on pretty much ever play I will base align, press, and contain (in that order). 

If you have 46 defensive playbook, my favorite play to run is SS blitz 3 out of big nickel over g. If you have a good user then this is a good play, but keep in mind your LB does come in on this so make sure they aren‘t a liability. Trenton Simpson is a great budget beast MLB. 

Tbh just find what you’re comfortable running and make sure to mix up coverages so people don‘t start hitting you with beaters.
