Exactly...because the best players have "potential" to play great to match their ratings...but it doesnt mean they well actually play great consistently

EA can basically control how players play in game, regardless of ratings.

Combine Bo Jackson on certain games can still appear better than the new Walter Payton card

Doug Williams can still make throws the Tribute Brady card misses

Super Bowl Warren Sapp on certain games will get better blockshedding than the new Vince Wilfork

John Runyan will miss blocks that Superbowl Whitworth  picked up

Its just so inconsistent

I’d have to say yes cause if you have the right stats maxed out & the traits of the player are also solid then adding the abilities just makes the player alot better 

EX: 

Corner Back

Harris Jr 

if you get his awarness & play recognition to 99 max stats using theme team chems & add on Pick Artist he will start making one handed picks & play like if he has lurk artist 

but if you just have him at base stats & add on pick artist he’ll tend to just KO the ball or completely let interceptions slip right over his head 

same goes for the D-Line the higher the stats go along with the correct pass tush traits it’ll increase the speed & how much more often they get to the QB or even apply pressure to throw a bad ball
