Mark Brunell vs. Steve Young

I have compared the two on MUT.gg and according to the attributes Young looks better. Obviously Brunell has a much better release.

I picked up Young last night and have Gunslinger and PLE on him. He’s been really good so far.

Wondering from those that have used both, is Brunell really better than Young (with Gunslinger)?

I was able to build Brunell today and sell the 96 and make a profit, so I have the BND94 and I bought the other cards needed to power up. I’m thinking about using my free Legend from the set on him if he’s worth it.

I don’t like to put more than like 2-3AP on my QB so I would probably just put Fearless on Brunell and maybe HRM.

Nope Young is better.  His release is actually exactly the same or slightly better (on average) as slinger 1 QBs with GS equipped. I was shocked but I proved it.   His deep balls are better and slightly faster.  Short throw slinger 1 has the edge.  Mid is debatable but all averaged out Young is faster and his stats are amazing.

Wow thanks for the input! Young just seems  way too good for his price tag right now. 

I felt like Young’s release seemed really fast with Gunslinger but I haven’t used anybody with Slinger 1 this year so I didn’t know what to compare it to. I also feel like Young’s accuracies have been great so far.

Just curious, have you tried Lamar’s AKA? I was wondering if his release would even be useable without Gunslinger. I leave the pocket a lot and throw on the run, he gets Fearless and Gutsy Scrambler for 1AP each so essentially for 2AP I would eliminate all inaccurate throws from pressure.

Btw I only play H2H, rarely play any solos. I don’t even do challenges unless there’s a solid reward.

From what I’m hearing stick with Young or Brunell.  I haven’t tried Lamar yet but hearing all kinds of horror stories about under pressure inaccuracies. Some who dropped Brunell after 24 hours for Lamar are already coming back to Brunell.

I had young and switched to Brunell , Brunell has been better for me , but young is still pretty dang good.

If you're not running HRM, I'd say Young is better simply because Slinger 3 is arguably just as good as Silnger 1 overall (especially Slinger 3 with Gunslinger). Slinger 1 is better short, they're about equal on medium, and Slinger 3 is better deep. 

I'm using Brunell and absolutely love him, but I also really liked Young and if not for me wanting to use HRM (and also being a fan of Brunell when I was a kid), I would most likely have stayed with Young.

Thanks man, I appreciate the opinion. HRM isn’t a necessity for me so I think I roll with Young for a while and see how it goes.

Im just using brunell with let it rip because hes free and he has 99 thp and 99 DAC so he can just absolutely bomb it deep

Hes the best running b and whit his special truzz X factor it’s crazy

but passing… you have to use fearless or he’s unusable also gs is mandatory so sadly u can’t use hrm but if your ok without it hes pretty good

Young seems to be throwing bombs deep as well. I don’t think I will be going back Let It Rip, Sprinter has been WAY too good for me.

I’m fine without HRM, I just don’t want to invest 3AP into Gunslinger on him. I might try it if he gets cheap enough in a week or two. I don’t run much with my QB but it could be fun for a minute.

Are You having any issues not Using Fearless on young?
