I don’t keep up with Madden during the off-season cause I don’t really care, I learn the new features as I play the game. I’ve noticed that i don’t get XP anymore for completing solo challenges, why would they change this?

No, its all in field passes now. You can check out the objectives there you need to get XP. Headliners has a lot of big XP drops and there are standard stats over time.

Others above have explained the new structure. You've most likely been racking up XP without even realising.
Keep in mind that you can also earn high amounts of XP for simply completing the daily objectives.
