Quadfather is still the KING!

No offense to Henry... 

Quadfather is still the only back who doesn't shut off. Add in the fact that with the newest strat item and Sprinter he's 96 speed and 95 acceleration. 

I have Quadfather and Henry and I'm getting Gus but unless there's one Golden Ticket that makes Gus not shut off, Quadfather will end Madden 23 as the best running back.

He shuts off if you tackle him for a loss though....and with secure tacklers readily available it's not that hard to do anymore. 

Gus is significantly better with regard to speed, accel, all the rushing attributes that count....so he would be tougher to bring down behind the line. So assuming he deactivates after 5 and reacitvates after 3 , and assuming Quad will be tackled for a loss by your opponent (with secure tacklers everywhere), that would make Gus better.

Unless of course you don't take a TFL with Quad, but that's happening more and more lately.

So Quad's ability is better but I am not so sure he's still the best HB option

As I did but that's too much AP and all it takes is one more TFL to deactivate him with persistent

I’m making the switch to Gus, the difference for me is big in favor of Gus.

Gus: 2AP Freight Train, Tank, Bruiser, Backfield Master

I agree with Marty above as well, defenses are shutting down Quadfather a lot easier recently.

Not just 2 AP freight train but as OP wrote, he spends a third AP on persistent. So 3 AP for FT and persistent versus 2 AP for FT tank bruiser BF master.

All on the hope that no one with Secure Tackler is able to catch up to Quad in the backfield...there are like 50 defenders that get Secure tackler for 0 or 1 AP

No, I don't add that. People who can't run well do that. That's his training wheels.

Gus looks way better. 1 ap for freight train, bruser and backfield master says it all imo. 99's across the board

The 2 AP is painful. I agree. 

I see Gus as the all around back while Quadfather is the back you use for the money plays that get you yards every single time. Gus is for the rest of the running plays that may or may not work. The same way Henry is used.

For example, what happens when someone with Willis, Tuck, Gravedigger, Derwin, Micah, Cromwell,  Seau, etc...who are goign to break through the line or be much faster than Quad gets to him behind the line just once....Most people run 3 or 4 secure tacklers now.

It's too risky to run it on Quad now since his attributes really are outdated. He's easy to catch up with. Can't really run wide with him and not get caught and there are too many cards that play tough in the middle with ST.

So what's your current H2h record sitting at....still winning 95% of your games?

I dropped to 90% this weekend because I did an experiment with Jacob's seeing if faster would change anything. 

I have found that for random running plays Jacobs did well. I don't know who was ever going East and West with Quadfather but with Jabobs you can. 

When it came to the plays that always get yards Jacobs did well but didn't break through piles to get extra yards like Quadfather as often. 

I know the argument is secure tackler but with the glut of WR's and Slinger 3's lately who is wasting AP points or free abilities on something that's not pass rush? 

With more people using linebackers over SubLB's their free abilities are going to lurker and pick artist. 

I use every top tier RB that comes out. I really liked Jacobs and thought he's better than Pollard. If Gus can run like Jacobs then that's terrific. If he runs like Bo? Bah. 

My big thing is that when I use plays that are sure to get me yards I'd rather have a lit up Quadfather than unlit anyone else.

Agreed… I solo tackle Quadfather all the time. Also LBs seem to tackle him better as well. 

I want a back who can catch as well which is why I haven’t been using the freight train backs, and instead using saquon. However Gus I’ll use because I can get the X factor, short in and mismatch for 1ap, along with decent catching and srr.

Agreed, and quad does nothing in the pass game. Unless you got a crazy run scheme you aren’t going to win on running with quad alone
