I played football and let me tell you there is no coverage that drops a flat corner 30 yards down the field. how this adjustment is in the game is pure arcade football.
Modern football is played on defense by various match coverages depending on the vertical release of receivers and the safety’s cover those corner routes or the deep quarter by the corner.
Ea needs to fix match coverage completely because that’s what is actually used in football college and pro
I think the problem w/ that is, if you make it so the safeties cover that they will be too overpowered and you wouldn't be able to throw at all, also it's a game, even if it's a simulation at the end of the day it's not real football.
think about it, do you really want 2 db's and 2 safeties that can cover the entire field in the game? I don't think you do. it would lock the field and you could blitz every play.
the first and main mistake you are making is thinking madden is based off the real NFL madden has never been like that i have been playing since 2000 and there have ALWAYS been glitch plays money plays etc the goal of madden is to manipulate the CPU

There are only certain coverages that will even cover those routes so no the safetys won’t cover everything you have to attack just like any other defense. cover 4 reacts different based on formations. they definitely won’t cover the entire field.

Of course I don’t expect it to play like the NFL especially mut with abilities and KO and suck but match should work the way it does in the NFL and shouldn’t be broken every year otherwise take it out the game.

they used to have it where there was no zone drops, it sucked, people could come out and literally just throw high or low and it was wide open every time. I don't even think they could get it right at all that's why they do the momentum thing where they cover it insane if the momentum is up and not at all if it's down, I just don't think they can even get it together to cover any other way. it's probably possible, they just can't, lol
Players also don't magically gain X-Factors during the game.

I always have to laugh when I see a 30 yard deep flat LOL. Not every coverage is match, some are straight zone with certain extra responsibilities for one or 2 players but yeah, the coverages in Madden are very unrealistic LOL.
I've never seen a corner in the NFL catch better because their coach used 2 AP on them before game. It's a video game, not real life.
sadly logic and actual football iq mean squat when dealing with EA and madden lol.......... pokemon + nfl blitz = madden
And you don't see teams throwing corner routes all damn game, either.

And you don't see teams throwing corner routes all damn game, either.
You don't sees non stop gun bunch (which would get obliterated in real football).
You don't see three man lines with 8 db's in the field all game.
You done see defenders looping around the offensive line for sacks.
All of the offensive cheese and you concentrate in one thing (zone drops) that help with some of this cheese.

I know all of that exist. I focused on that aspect to have a conversation about that specific part of the game. If I wanted to list all of the unrealistic aspects of the game I would have done so because I know them well as i actually played the game but thanks.
I’ve said it before and OP is correct. Basic football concepts went out the window years ago. None of the zones, including hard flats, really work like they should. neither does man. Pursuit angles are silly.. Blockers generally ignore the user. Three TE heavy sets can’t run against 8 DBs. EA knows all this and does not care or is too incompetent to change it. Need the NFL to wake up and award rights to at least one more company and EA needs to burn the place down and code this thing from scratch. None of that is going to happen. Been around since the first Madden and the first MUT. Gameplay was better 15 years ago with worse graphics. Oh well. No other options, so I’ll lemming my way around this mess for another year.
