I usually run mainly ZCV with some MCV mixed in. I've thought about going to a more mcv scheme defense and am wondering how useful are the Route KO abilities? I have medium route KO on two of my cbs but it doesn't appear to really help much during mcv. I would guess that short route KO is probably the best one to use the other two deep and medium just seems like if the receiver already has separation then those abilities wont really matter,I guess short route KO with short passes a wr doesn't have a chance at getting as much separation cause it's a shorter pass and thus the ability will be more helpful for the defender. Im sure inside and outside shade abilities are probably the best but not many cb's get them discounted. Also how well does the Outmatched ability work against rb's?
KO's doesn't help you preventing the receiver to get much separation - that's courtesy of inside/outside shade - , it just forces knockouts if your db is close enough after the catch.
I've never used man abilities, but if I've to choose one out of all of them I'd rather pick deep route ko instead of the other 2... most of the offensive meta formations are about deep corners/posts/crossers... I'd rather give short yards instead of big plays down the field.

Exactly this. To add to that, it seems zone abilities include both improved knockouts and breaks on the ball so you could argue they are better or maybe at least do more. Some people also mix man and zone abilities you saw it on the MCS.
Also I think scheme is quite important when running man, especially what I see a lot is a combination of man and blitz. most people run man beating routes and abilities on offense like SIE etc, covering corners, drags etc in man can be tough but if you add crazy pressure, press and a roaming user then obviously you don‘t need to hold up for long.
i have fiddled some with inside shade and deep route KO. I would say IS is the best man cover ability, I have it on R Lott with PA and Crusher and I put him in nickel corner when I man blitz and he does well there. I have deep route Ko on deion and he still gets burned deep.
an interesting approach could be two IS and two Deep Zones on the outside with a user in the middle but havent tried it
