Yes, sniping is a thing. However it's a bit harder to do and there aren't really specific filters that are great for it, especially since some theorize there are bots on the auction house by either EA to make sure no one gets a great card for 100 coins or so or by hackers.
That being said, I made a few coins a while back sitting on Harvest 93s on the companion app

For me, the best filters to snipe on are ones from a new promo. For example, UL 87/91s got me 50k a couple days ago.
