Bro, I started playing Madden in 1988. I was 20 yrs old and in college with no spending money. Back then there were no microtransactions, you bought the game and that was it. By the time MUT came along I had a little bit of spending $ but even then I was not able to spend a lot on the game other than the initial purchase. So I was basically NMS for a bunch of years. Then I became more established in my career and life and financially. So I see both sides of it.

Just paid for the game at launch, and that's it. Not interested in spending anything on MUT specifically.
I too have a decent amount of disposable income each month, but I'm of the opinion that EA doesn't deserve another penny from me after August in the current Madden cycle.
