They are both correct, in merriam websters dictionary chomping at the bit is listed as a modern variant. The reason is that most people nowadays don't know the word champ which is a verb that means to chew away at something vigorously. It is an old word that has fell into disuse, but it would have seemed normal 200 years ago when everyone rode horses as the bit in question is a horse bit that goes in their mouth. The variant chomping is more well known now and it is totally fine to use.
Looks like the game is updated and working now. Since the “champing/chomping at the bit“ debate has nothing to do with MUT, I think this topic has run its course.
