LGNDari said:Nickle normal, flood the gaps if he spams, 3-3 cub works best but if the guy sucks then 4-6 nvr fails, spread line crash in and cover a or b gap unless he hits sidelines, I said all that to say qaud still fcks me up but gus hasn't done nothing yet tho.
The formation won't have anything to do with stopping him if you don't have the right players and abilities..what abilities do you run and who are your SubLBs in nickel
If you run 4-6 and crash in Gus is fast enough with enough accel that he will get right around your front 4. If your opponent has Gronk with Vanguard, Pickens with honorary lineman, your dbs will get flattened. You probably played guys that just try to run Gus right up the gut

I rlly did on your last point and threw passes out the backfield but the formations def help bcuz I am 50/50 bears with peppers and ed reed as subs and my abilities are pickartist on both ,no lie if you know your gaps have decent user you should be good.

Gus is a great receiver out of the backfield and Quad isn't - so maybe no one has used Gus as a receiver yet against you? I guess my point is gaps don't matter on stretch plays. Quad isn't quick enough to get wide, Gus is. There's no way Peppers can keep up with a card like Gus and I love Peppers.
If you don't run secure tackler you are not going to stop Quad,Gus, or Henry. The only thing that counters their AKA X factor is secure tackler. Do what works for you but I am telling you that against a player with skill or even with much skill, you need secure tackler (or tackle supreme) to stop any of the HBs that get freight train. Anyone here would agree with this

Lol that's the whole point I am the 1percent ,it don't take much unless you don't have run d.

what console you on?
Is Tank able to override this? I have been USERing Fred Warner since he dropped and last evening i had at least one hit stick that did NOT guarantee a tackle, i was a bit alarmed and surprised. Am i wasting this free 0AP ability, heh?
Also, i've only used Gus for a single evening, but i'm a bit disappointed. I was totally expecting a top end King Henry style experience, but it feels liek he goes down immediately after that first broken tackle. Perhaps my expectations were far too lofty. I still have Quadfather in my binder, but parted with King Henry a while ago, prior to Redux dropping -- both Quadfather and King Henry both feel liek they can moves the pile. I had a single experience where Gus got stood up by three dudes at the goalline and was able to push the pack into the endzone for the score, however that appears to be the exception. I was starting to think i was doing something wrong, or had a nightmare over the "poor" gameplay experience. Gus does basically what he's described, but that 99 Speed / 99 Acceleration feels slow when directly compared with CMC and Joe Perry that i've been running recently on 49ers TT. They're stats are all basically equivalent, but Gus feels liek he's stuck in mud, takes him a while to get going, doesn't seem as nimble. This is hardly a scientific study, just my anecdotal experiences, but something feels "off" for lack of a better term, i can't really seem to place it.
Appreciate everyone who has chimed in on this thread, lot of familiar names here who have specifically blessed me with various MUT knowledge in recent months. Danke.

Yeah tank prevents hit sticks so it will break an enforcer too I believe. For free tho it’s worth it imo.
I’ve only used Gus for 3 games so far, buts he’s averaged 8.2 a carry and 14 a catch for me. I’m running backfield master for the catching bonus along with short in and the X factor and he catches the ball very well out of the backfield. Short in just if I play man he’ll get open as well.
I find with the X factor not preforming a ball carrier move like stiff arm of juke breaks the tackle better on first contact.
I have to be honest, this is a good price for the overall, but when you get to high opponent teams this card does much more less than anyone thinks. Playing online against this card is not that hard as long as you play smart against it. I play people with this and hold him to under 3 yards a carry, and I win most of my lineups now because I know to not be scared and contain run

In my experience Enforcer is the only way to hit stick someone with Tank and get the same result as hit sticking someone without Tank. Hit sticking with Enforcer doesn’t guarantee a tackle on someone with Freight Train activated though.

Yeah I don’t have much experience against tank. However I hit stick Henry and quad all the time with Warner and they always go down.
Gus is unstoppable and quadfather is outdated and his stats and abilities don’t come close to Gus

Quadfather isn't really "outdated" just yet. Stat-wise, Gus obviously wins. Ability-wise, it is a lot closer. Plenty still struggle at stopping Quadfather. While I do believe Gus is the better HB, I also believe Quadfather is still a viable option and will be for at least another week or two.

Thank you for the input and advice, specifically the very last statement;
>> I find with the X factor not preforming a ball carrier move like stiff arm of juke breaks the tackle better on first contact.
This is almost certainly what i'm doing wrong, i tend to spam that X, X, X, X button for stiff-arms... i'm apparently a button-masher, oof. I always try to anticipate the opponent, so i want to be hammering that button before they even know we're supposed to be pressing it, to break tackles. Perhaps having counter-intuitive effect.

Yeah I’m a stiff arm spammer too which is good with a normal HB like when I had Saquads but it seems to give you a worse animation with freight train than if you don’t touch anything. Also no turbo helps too.
