I’m not sure, but I’m pretty sure that if you complete every solo, you should already have enough to get a free player

Just a small PSA, even if you have enough to get one, I would wait till next week at least to redeem your freebie. Here's why, next week all the UL's released "should" be at 99 right? So hold just in case next week they drop a 99 you want over anything thats already been released.

Why are they all 99? Plus I thought you could only choose a 98 from the exchange…

125, I got 124 this week but just open 1 ult legends packs or just wait until next week

You can choose any of the set ULs that are available in game at the moment you open the pack. So that would be a choice of one from all of the 97s, and all of the 98s released so far.
The advice you were given was to hold off on the opening until the 99s begin dropping into the game (Kam doesn't count as he's a LTD).
