Is the change ill-timed? Yes. Is it likely meant to create demand for future double 0 AP players? Yes. But I think it accomplished the goal of skill-based gameplay.
100% agree. EA obviously did it to make as much money as possible off the diehards before 24 launch's. Most casual players have already stopped playing at this point in the year.
However gameplay since has been pretty solid. Yes you are missing some abilities on defense while still being able to run the same offense, but it isn't that far off from being back to how the game played around Christmas, which was where I personally thought it peaked. 8ap would probably be the perfect balance in my eyes. And I do have some bias as I've gone 24-2 in legend h2h since the ap change, but I've seen minimal dollar and even less spinner. A shift to a zone meta for the rest of the year is kind of refreshing to be honest.
This meta shift probably will only be a couple of weeks till the GT's drop, and people can get 2 0ap buckets and stack 3 KO's for 1ap. Guess we will see.
