Have you noticed players with lower overalls but play way better than some of their higher competitors?

Hi, I stared playing Madden when I was a young but never really played again until last year on 22 and found I love MUT.I The reason I am bringing it up is because I have had lower overall cards play so much better than some higher cards that I replace them with.  I am talking about have you noticed a card that is hard to replace someone with because the card you got just has that DAWWWG in em'? I will give an example for me and the reason I started this thread to begin with. He is 96 overall DT MEAN JOE GREENE & HE HAS THAT DAWG IN HIM! I got 99 overall Mr. Madden at DT1 and MEAN JOE at DT2. And at the end of the game Mean Joe usually will always have the better stats. I would love to hear your guy's replies and if you have had any players like this before. Thanks for your time fellas!

Its based on thresholds and coding.  Some players always play good like MJG or Sapp or Moss etc. 

When you hit thresholds its all about height, weight, and traits.
