You have no idea how many hours i've spent obsessing over my DBs, IMO they remain THE single most position group in all of MUT, especially lately, where defense can be difficult limited to 6AP. For Safety, that's pretty "easy" or straightforward for my purposes. I play a mix of Cover 2 Man, as well as straight manning up my Safeties in heavy blitz formations, so they're basically on an island and i need them to play blanket coverage, sometimes for upwards of 8-10 seconds, but hopefully i'm getting pressure quickly in those situations. Anyway, i'm of the opinion that Chad Johnson (FS - 2AP Universal Coverage) and Joey Porter Jr. (SS - 1AP Universal Coverage) are the two best available options, as the abilities are always-on.
For cornerbacks, that can vary wildly depending on your scheme. I've been using boosted Lester Hayes (1AP Universal Coverage, starts-on) and Anquan Boldin (2AP Shutdown), both of which have basically 99 in all relevant stats, across the board.
The Slot is a bit more complicated, i've continued using Deion (0AP PA + Acrobat) and now Ronnie Lott (0AP Inside Shade), although if Deion hadn't played so well all the time, i may consider replacing him with new Chris McAlister that i just built last evening, but remain undecided. Will try to do some online H2H testing this weekend. LOVE this conversation. If yer playing more Zone, much of the above could vary quite a bit, but these are the "best" on my boosted 49ers squad.
And in the box, i've got Trey Lance (0AP Secure Tackler) & Pola-Mao as my SUBLBs, however i mix in some 4-3 Even 6-1 and typically USER Patrick Willis.

Yeah. Right now I run DOZKO everywhere in a cover 3 and match scheme. (I love match against trips, reminds me of the IRL game this shít show is based on lol). Currently I go
speed
height
accel
weight
0 AP PA + 1 AP DOZKO all around. If I could afford 0 AP DOZKO I would probably add some inside shades on my OLB in 33 but I don’t know. What abilities would you add in that scheme?

It breaks my heart to say this, but my DBs who lack PA, even with max 99 CTH stat, don't seem to pluck the ball out of the air as much as i think they should. Pick Artist remains vitally important if you wanna actually get picks, but lately i just lack the AP to invest, so i've had to focus. KOs, KOs, KOs are superior to basically everything. Yer doing it correct, IMO -- or how i would approach it when I was still running Zone, mostly Deep Out Zone KOs.
I still think Chad Johnson and Joey Porter Jr. fit in basically all defensive backfields, both man and zone schemes. Acrobat for a USER is a nice touch, but the TT Remix boosts are so massive that at this point i prefer to just stick with my 49ers squad, turns everyone into basically max 99 stats, or you can always add a Strategy Card if you happen to come up a little short somewhere.
As folks in the community have been pointing out, don't stress about stats too terribly much, as we're in the end-game now and basically everyone should be closing in on 99, but i often look at MCV/ZCV, which can be boosted through the old Isaiah Rodgers CB, as well as the Zone strategy card that also gets +PRC +AWR (i think). My order (but honestly, stats matter an awful lot less than abilities):
My ultimate goal was to get 4x Universal Coverage all around the outside, but i've gotten as close as i can at this point. I'd love to be able to use both Man & Zone, but for now, we must prioritize.
Regarding easy interceptions that are continually dropped, due to lack of Pick Artist ability -- this scenario seems to happen ALL the darn time lately. Lester Hayes will be chasing his opponent down the sideline, he'll leap up and tip the ball into the air, hopefully Joey Porter Jr. comes over to scoop it before it hits the ground, ideally returning it for six, or at least excellent field position.
Sadly, there are FAR more dropped balls, or "picks" that are ultimately out of bounds if i manage to come down with it. Happens with Anquan Boldin on the opposite side, although i'm seriously considering adding 0AP PA back on top of the 2AP Shutdown, which is allegedly supposed to help with both coverage AND catching interceptions... typically i have Deep Route KO (instead of PA) on Boldin, to help with Shutdown ability.

- SPD = 99
- ACC = 98/99
- PRC = 95+
- AWR = 95+
- Height -- i won't put a corner on the outside unless they're over 6' tall, but Slot corners can get Acrobat which makes this somewhat less important

I get that. I would rather have all the KOs I need than get picks but I’m really not sure

Yeah. I think I’d rather have a man KO or a midzone on my OLB so that they make plays when in coverage

Midzone is almost certainly what i'd choose, unless you find yer LBs needing to cover quick passes to the flat, but typically i find it's better to walk a deep Safety down into the box and put them into Man coverage in these type scenarios, they should be able to close the distance much faster than most LBs, although at this point basically everyone should be at or near 99 SPD/ACC. Including LBs.

oh yeah I got that speed
if you are selecting a USER, then COD is one of THE most important stats. I see so many folks complaining about Julius Peppers GT and back when i was using big Fred Warner as my primary user, i constantly felt liek i was wading through maple syrup on the field. Adjusting to Patrick Willis and getting that COD boosted to 98/99 feels significantly better. The difference between 93 COD and 98 COD is massive, IMO.

yeah agreed I been using vrabel today for height and TT (Steelers!)

I haven't played prior MUT iterations, but i heard that in the past that height metric matters much more than it does these days... however, i could have my information wrong.

Not sure. Lurker is necessary for linebackers tho still, worry not I know that

OOF, i took WAY too long to learn this. I just thought my SUBLB refused to animate. Turns out, i had Pick Artist and Enforcer on Fred Warner, which is why he would never animate. DOH. Some growing pains getting back into Madden. Had no idea how crucial abilities are/were.
