CBs and abilities for hybrid scheme (zone/man)

I usually love to run zone but seeing that man has become meta, and so annoying to play against… I was thinking of running some sort of hybrid scheme.

I just got the new Donald Parham and will slap on DOZKO along with the DRKO and PA he comes with for just 1AP. He’s my CB1 going forward. Need some advice on my other CBs and S and what abilities to run.

Currently have:

CBs: Hayes, Moss, Sherman, Deion, Parham, PorterJr (comp pass).
FS: Chad, Quin, Lott.

SS: Kam, Knight, Dexter, Pola Mao, Kearse, Bo, Lynch.

Will probably get rid of Lynch and Dexter (if I move out of 49ers TTR boosts). Thinking of adding SS Polamalu/Atwater, FS Honeybadger and CB Calvin. 
 

What combination of players would you guys run and what abilities would work best? I hate playing guys out of position but I’m open to it. Keep Kearse as user?

If you're looking to run a hybrid scheme, I would prioritize players with Universal coverage so no matter if what coverage you are in you have a relevant KO. Lester and JPJ are good options for this. Plus with Universal coverage in theory disguising your coverage better.

You may want to include someone with free inside shade/one step ahead for man situations. I like Boldin or McAlister the most for this role.

No need to sell kearse unless you want a different user.

Great advice. Boldin actually fits my TT right now. Not a full 49ers team but have so many guys from their squad that it made sense. McAllister being 99 everywhere does help too.

Looks pretty good.

Calvin could be free inside shade/osa guy. Sorry, I missed that you had him. You don't need osa on a slot corner, inside shade will work just fine.

If you want a big DB for Hail mary situations you can keep Moss but it's difficult to fit him in a hybrid scheme without free kos. Hopefully we can get another GT DB that gets a ko for free.

I’m running a hybrid zone D out of primarily 33 nickel blitz 3 and dollar max sting 3. Been my setup for most of the year. Right now my lineup is

Outside Corners: Carmichael DOZKO Tip, Peppers DOZKO PA Acro

Slots: McAlister InSh PA, SS Bo Acro

Safety: Ngata PA, Pola-Mao DOZKO PA

Users: Willis Lurk Enf Aval, Kiko Lurk Acro

My slots are my man guys. personally I hated JPJ, he was getting cooked In the slot for me. inside Shade/one step are the man necessities for me. UC by itself is inconsistent. Acro works best in flat zones or man but will sell you sometimes deep. 

At the end of the day it’s personal preference. Parham is the best Hybrid only one with his stack for 1. other than that decide what you can and can’t give up.

THIS^^.  I've been playing mostly straight up man (Cover 0 & Cover 2), but it's nice to have the option to be flexible and play some of both if you need to change things up to confuse your opponent.

• FS: Chad Johnson (2AP Universal Coverage -- always on)
• SS: Joey Porter Jr. (1AP Universal Coverage -- always on)
• CB1: Lester Hayes (1AP Universal Coverage -- starts on)
• CB2: Anquan Boldin (2AP Shutdown, but using 0AP OSA probably makes more sense here)
• Slot1: Deion Sanders (0AP Pick Artist + Acrobat) -- Prime Time remains quite possibly THE single most productive DB on the entire roster, he is an absolute ball hawk
• Slot2: Ronnie Lott (0AP Inside Shade)

I've been tinkering with sliding Calvin Johnson into Slot2, in place of Ronnie Lott CB, however i'm not convinced that extra 5 inches in height is worth 1M coins, nor the lack of boosted 49ers team chems, which are quite massive.  For my USERs, i've got Trey Lance (0AP Tackle Supreme) and recently picked up Julius Peppers, but he feels a bit sluggish, i assume due to COD.  Doubt i'll go back to Pola-Mao as primary USER, but keeping my options open.  From 4-3 Even 6-1 i typically USER Patrick Willis, who is an absolute goon with boosted team chems.

Play a lot of 4-3 Even 6-1 to defend against the run, as well as heavy blitz formations, but often revert to Dollar in obvious passing situations.  Bang bang Niner gang!~

And anyone that suggested you add Moss to the defense probably isn't paying close enough attention.  Yeah yeah, shiny and "golden" and all, but he's not good.  Not even on boosted 49ers TT, IMO.  Granted, i'm stuck at 8/9 TT Remix boosted chems, due to un unfortunate incident with Glover Quin, but i'm trying to move past that and will spare you the bellyaching.  You'll be happy you sold him.

Jury is still out (for me) on the Calvin thing, but i got him at a pretty good price, so i think i'm just gonna take the profit and sell him this evening.

Yeah man I remember we spoke on another thread about the 49ers TT! Great team but I’m moving on from it now because I just can’t have Dexter Jackson occupying one of my SS slots. They should’ve gave him FS Chem seeing as that was his natural position. Selling Randy Moss CB as we speak. He was only good at slot CB. He would get BURNED all day outside. Terrible card.

Is unstoppable a waste now for 1 ap? I run 2 on my line and don't know if I should still be using it

I think unstoppable force is good. It's still the best way to get a pass rush without blitzing.

I'd recommend at least one player with it provided you have the ap. 

I'd say stick with it if you're happy with the pressure you get with 2 unstoppable force players.

This is probably one of the better threads I've read in awhile. Unfortunately I didn't get the JPJ, but I'm going to try and build a hybrid either way. I'm using eagles tt but they got so many 2x chems from ULs this year I have plenty of spots for subs. I want to run it from a 4-3 Big Nickel Over G formation, but can't decide if i want to have it set up for Cover 3/4 and mix in Man single high, 2 man under and 0 or if i want to do a cover 2 setup and mix in tampa 2, 2 man under and 0.
