I feel like 2 0ap buckets would be better because X factora other than friendly train and phenom just don’t seem worth it over many meta abilities

Quick change of mind - I am running two CBs with XFactors: Mo w/ Univesal Coverage and Gilly Lock w/ Shutdown. I have tried to move on from these but I just can't, especially Mo's UC. So I would also add Univesal Coverage on a DB for 1AP is also beter than 2 0AP buckets.
Not much that i could add beyond what was already brilliantly stated above in the first few posts within the thread. My ultimate goal was to get DBs with Universal Coverage all the way around, but never quite got there. Chad Johnson's 2AP Universal Coverage + Joey Porter Jr's 1AP Universal Coverage make the best deep Safety duo in the entire game, IMO. Grants the flexibility to play both Man and Zone schemes, or somewhat float between -- i often play Cover 2 Man, or go straight up Cover 0 from heavy blitz formations, so my DBs end up on an island and need to have lockdown coverage for 6-8+ seconds until pressure gets home.
Anquan Boldin's 2AP Shutdown is quite nice (for Man schemes, quite possibly THE best Man CB in the entire game, although 0AP OSA + DRKO is great, but tons of swatted balls and i need picks), plus 1AP Lester Hayes Universal Coverage, which starts-on isn't half bad -- didn't quite get there, but don't sleep on that new Bengals LE (Sam Hubbard) with 0AP Unstoppable Force. NOBODY should be investing 1AP into D-line X-factors at this point in the game, i feel liek it makes more sense to invest those points with DBs to counter passing attack.
KOs, KOs, KOs. And Universal Coverage is the best value or way to get as many KOs as possible.

Agree with this except next week Hubb will go to an 80 lol :(

I do feel bad for folks with Bengals theme teams, they should at least give em an option to use the card after next Thursday -- maybe we'll all get lucky and it'll turn into another Sugar Rush Strategy item that was allegedly supposed to scale back the stat bonuses, what... back in ~April or someshit? Heh. EA is capable of basically anything, sometimes by being so bad, it wraps all the way around that we luck out and something good happens. Not on purpose, obviously, but out of sheer incompetence we managed to get lucky once in a while.
I am all XFs, assuming you use the ones that make a big impact. Freight Train, Unstoppable Force and Avalanche.
A lot of 0 AP abilities are nice, but the game changing XFs and having Super Heroes to carry my team is how I roll.

I like your idea, but what do you do vs run heavy players like me? All your AP becomes useless. Maybe you can stop the run without AP and XF doesn’t there, but it’s not easy. Just a thought. I spend all my AP on DL and run stoppers, let my DBs fend for themselves lol. I am very interested in that new Jamal Adams though, never used UC before

Fantastic question, or point you make. Stopping the run is absolutely crucial, especially with so many X-factor HBs that will absolutely torch most Dollar formations. That's where the Cover 0 stuff comes in. It's not that i don't have any abilities, in fact my entire D-line has; No Outsiders, Inside Stuff, Inside Stuff, No Outsiders -- for a total of 0AP, just not Unstoppable Force X-factor(s). Plus, at this point in the year everyone is basically 99 SPD / ACC, so it only takes a quick tug on the shoestrings and hopefully the rest of the defenders swarm the ball carrier to bring em down, FreightTrain, Phenom, etc. or not. Nothing is perfect and i'll occasionally make a crucial miss with my user on HB Stretch runs to the sidelines, but very few folks are able to run against Sam Will blitz with crashing linebackers and slanting D-line to the inside, as my primary adjustments.
Most Dollar formations tend to get blown up against a competent runner, but Dollar Spinner remains wildly effective, despite only having a single 0AP Inside Stuff at DT to hold down the middle. Boosted Trey Lance with his 0AP Tackle Supreme is far and away my favorite user.
I'll typically go heavy pressure out of a larger 4-3 Even 6-1 formation for both run and pass defense. Ultimately, i allow the opponent to dictate my coverages, but i salivate against anyone that lacks a high octane passing attack. However, nothing is perfect.
Here's my Boosted 49ers TT lineup, in case you are curious. Should be mostly updated, or pretty close.
Lawrence Taylor and Chuck Haley are my bookend Linebackers, primarily pass rushers, but i also run No Outsiders on Chuck, for run defense. 97 OVR might seem wonky at this time of year, but he's still legit, IMO. Thanks for the great comment. Will absolutely check out that Jamal Adams you mentioned.
Generally speaking I’d say double 0 AP buckets, unless it’s a passive X factor for 1 AP or less.
Passive X factors are active for the whole game unlike AKA or TT remix X factors. I’d take a good passive X factor like universal coverage for 1 AP over any double 0 AP ability combo you could get on a DB.
Now, just imagine how good that Jamal Adams is going to be with TWO 0 AP passive X factors…

I’m fairly intrigued now about this. Is there a list of players with starting on UC? Or passive UC? There’s too many variants in the ability tier thing.

Nice dude, I can tell you really think out the game like I do, I like it. I went 25-0 with a very heavy run scheme. Only very few guys ever slow it down. Nasty Streaks and Vanguards are keys. Its a cheat code if you use it like I do. And Pacheco with FT, AB, HJ, and Tank is beyond nasty. Best RB I’ve ever used.
On D I run a 3-4 always. With heavy UF D-Ends. And Avalanche on Debo. Has to be a MLB in the 3-4. I go next level with my defense. I have pass rushers/coverage guys for passers and then backups ready with IS, NO, and Secure Tacklers ready to sub in very the run heavy guys. I have found that also keeps defenders fresher and saves XF plays while resting and waiting for a pass down. @OkoTheMaddenGoat

I tried to pull a list of DBs with Universal Coverage X-factor for 0-1 AP, but it didn't really work out, cuz basically EVERYONE can get the option to run it for 1AP, with the on-off cycling. Tinker with this list (link below), there's not really many of these type cards that have X-factors that can be run as abilities, it's basically: Chad Johnson and Joey Porter Jr. (from Comp Field pass, the GT isn't even close, way worse). I'm sure there's a ton i've missed, i mostly focus on players / cards that get 49ers team chems, so take anything I say with a grain of salt, as i've become very dependent on various boosts and team chems. Also, there are other, special variants of the UC X-factors, players liek Rhodes Closed who have their own. Work that Abilities page and please do let me know what i've missed. It's not easy to work around the three X-factor limit, but Backyard Ballers have some unique cards.

I haven't touched 3-4 basically all year, but i probably should have considering I wanted to use both Fred Warner and Patrick Willis for the longest time, heh. I've never once gone 25-0 in MUT Champs, hell i'm thrilled if i knock out ten wins in a cycle. Which console / platform are you on, btw? I mostly play on PS5, but still have our old PS4 Pro hanging around, but the games are very different, it seems.

From my limited memory
The AKAs New class on/off
TTR on/off
JP jr and Boldin passive
Adams gets passive UC and Ava I think
2 0 AP Buckets all the way because they can't deactivate. Or an X-Factor with Persistent
