...saved formation substitutions and custom audibles?
We finally got our long requested MUT Practice mode... but please EA... it's time to introduce these quality of life improvements.
I would pay double the cost of the game for these upgrades.

Yes! That can’t be too hard can it?
It's possible but I don't think it's probable considering how long it took to get practice mode.

I've never played franchise but I hear they have it in that mode. So the coding must be there already to do so.
I'm so tired of making these adjustments every damn game. But I bet a lot of players don't even make subs or set custom audibles.

I always try to (substitute players), but it still hasn't become second nature, even after 6+ months of gameplay. I'm even worse at setting audibles, i really need to dive into practice mode and repeat until it's second nature, oof. I'm so bad. I'm familiar with the process finally, however it's kind of stupid the way the lineups are built and restricted. We're still using somewhat outdated terminology, what the hell is a ROLB in 2023? That was relevant for Lawrence Taylor, but these days we've got edge rushers. Or am i wildly missing something here?
Coaching adjustments, sure -- although it'd be nice to lock in our preferences, similar to how we can set a global: Kick/Receive to start the games. Quality of life / creature comforts are sorely needed. I don't know what the happy medium is, between making the game more accessible for a wider player base, but i'm quite confident that providing a fun and somewhat bug free (at least the obvious stuff that's been around for years, if not decade+) experience is a must.

I use about ten different formations in a game that goes the distance... and the OCD in me wants specific players in the exact spots. So I absolutely must make a ton of substitutions. For example on offense, in certain formations where I'm mostly going to run, I want TEs instead of WRs. On defense, for run D, I want my guys with Tackle Supreme / Secure Tackler... but for passing situations I want my best pass rushers and coverage DBs. We should be able to make these adjustments in practice mode and be able to save them for H2H games.
It's all muscle memory for me on old gen where I've played close to 1000 H2H games. I tried to switch to current gen over the weekend where the new menu system is less intuitive... but I was getting the hang of it.

I love how you customize your formations on a per play / scheme basis. I wish i were that competent or advanced. I have failed to consider how much time invested many folks have in the game, i'm slowly starting to better understand why there appear to be quite a number of folks who prefer to run the PS4 version of the game, even from a PS5 console. I didn't have the benefit of hundreds if not a ~thousand hours of Madden on prior generations.
I've sort of approached it from the opposite, lazy-man angle, where i am so averse to being forced to mess with various settings and formations that i typically try to get my roster set from the main player/card selection screens, then hopefully only have to make minor adjustments from there. For example, a specific that jumps in my head, was trying to run the Ronnie Lott UL as a Slot2 cornerback, for that sweet, sweet 0AP Inside Shade. It simply was not possible from the regular menus, had to be in-game to make that roster move, despite Ronnie clearly having CB secondary position. He wasn't even available to run as a Slot corner, for whatever reason.
Getting Honorary Lineman on my WRs has been quite the unexpected benefit. Well, at least with Boldin, i'm happy to invest the 1AP for SIE, SOE & HL. Now that we're in the end-game, most of the high end receivers typically have 99 IBL, which seems to make all the difference in the world, especially if they have a huge strength advantage over DBs. Pancake city.

There are guys here that have played MUT way longer than me (I started with MUT 15). Looking back on my time with the game... I'd say my first two years were just winging it on both offense and defense. I knew football basics, but I really had no idea what I was doing in the game. Like many players, I started as a "DLine user". Then I read in the forums how you're never going to be good at the game unless you're usering someone in coverage... so I started with my MLB or sub-LB and my philosophy was to "just get in the way of the first open receiver I see". I can't believe how long it took me to get that first "user lurk" message. By now, I'd say I'm fairly good at knowing the most common routes from many of the typical formations that you see in H2H and it's rare that I play a game without at least one user pick.
For the longest time, I had no clue how to make formation substitutions in game but saw someone doing it on stream and I looked into it and finally figured out how to make them. But in the beginning I was super slow - I had to use all my timeouts setting things up! That was probably M19 and I don't think we even got custom audibles in MUT until like M20. But four years later it's all second nature.
The thing I enjoy most about this silly game is getting beat by someone running a tough scheme... then figuring out how to stop it or at least slow it down... then facing the same guy again down the road and beating them.

Thanks for sharing your perspective and personal experiences. I've been away from Madden for decades. I mean, i've been playing video game fatball since the 8-bit NES days (Play Action Football anyone?), possibly even before... i cannot recall what (if any) football i was able to play on Atari, i know we had hockey and such. And gosh, who could forget Tecmo Bowl / Superbowl. Didn't even have all the teams, i think we got liek two run plays and two pass plays per squad, gosh things have changed a lot. I realize i'm dating myself, but that was the first place Bo Jackson ran absolutely wild, i half expected his S5 upgrade card from MUT `23 to be that ridiculously overpowered, heh. He would just bulldoze all eleven defenders on basically every play.

Come to think of it, i've been playing the grumpy old man role quite well, barked at my son, "there's zero chance we'll be upgrading to a new version of Madden each and every year when it drops..." i had a difficult time explaining how and why we dropped nearly $100 on `24 pre-order, heh. I'm hooked and curious to see a full season of MUT from August til however long i can stand it. However, he did convince me that it'd be worth $35 (Black Friday sale price) to grab both NBA2K `23 and Madden `23. So here we are. I've learned a lot, but SO much more to go. There's two very different versions of the gameplay experience for me, chilled out Solo Battles and hyper-competitive online H2H. They are not the same thing. I can't always play both.
Knowing EA it will be added….. in madden 34
Bro i just want rookie premier details

Your right , every decade madden brings back features of past maddens or fifa branding them as groundbreaking new features.
I quit playing around easter and wont be buying the new 77$ roster update .
Spent more time in the auction and purple loading screens than actually playing anyways...

I wish they would but highly doubt ea gives 2 sh!ts about anything other than store content and sales of packs .unfortunately
