I'm curious about everyone's thoughts on comp pass players. Do you think they were worth the grind? Should they return in 24? What changes would you make if they return?
In general, I'd say most of the comp pass players were good starters at their position when they released. But comp pass players were rarely the best at their position. In my opinion, they were worth the grind if you wanted a solid option at that position but didn't want to spend any coins. But they weren't worth it if you already had someone at that position. Towards the end they got better. Personally, I thought the trio of JPJ, Cann, and Kupp were some of the best items we got all year from the comp pass.
I would love to see them make a return in some way in 24.
Should they return, I would love to see them be made auctionable. Players who don't need the comp pass player would have more incentiv to grind if you could sell the reward. Plus you wouldn't have to worry about not being able to complete the pass and missing out on the player if you could buy them.
EA was inconsistent and difficult to predict when they would rerelease comp pass items. The last comp pass items from this year are likely never going to be rereleased. Should they return, I would like to see previous comp pass player be rereleased as redux items. If not redux items, perhaps every 4 comp passes or so one of the lower tier rewards is fantasy pack of all previous comp pass items. They did that occasionally this year but I would like to have predictable schedule so you know when they would be available again if you missed them.
I know it probably won't happen because it's difficult for EA to make money from it but I would like the overall quality of comp pass players to improve. Personally, I think the comp pass should reward some of the best players in the game. It's a bummer when the new comp pass gets announced and it's a player who won't make your team
