Ive been running into everyone running man right now. Is that the meta now? Iv3 been running only zone but it seems to get cooked pretty easy right now. Should I invest in some good man CBS and safties? Everyone is sticking to my top guys like rice and hester and Johnson. Also any tips on best coach adjustments for a man coverage scheme?
IMO the real meta is blitzing whether it be man or zone. The pros typically run man blitzes but they often end up shading certain players into zone coverage. So it’s basically a hybrid of both.
I typically run zone blitzes out of big nickel but mix in man blitzes too
I run man 20% of the time tops (ideally when it’s least expected). I’m afraid of leaving Gilmore and Tre White on an island by themselves against some of the cards out there now (mainly Rice & Hester). Even with 50/50 bills boosts their speed is a potential liability.
Now if I load into a game and his top 3 is a bunch of BND headliner cards, I’m mixing in way more man coverage.

This is interesting because I feel afraid to run zone because it leaves too many holes which I attribute to their zone ratings being too low currently but time will tell, I reckon. For now I mainly prefer man, and actually have been going man align in my coaching adjustments. I do mix in zone because of course it's necessary to be unpredictable and try to set things up like hard flats when it's necessary, cover 3 when necessary etc
I have been finding an interesting thing about this is man aligning while in zone will do things like hard or cloud flats across the middle and this can actually be the perfect play. There's so much you can do to be creative on defense that I think can be underrated but maybe it only works against newbs or something. I'm gonna keep at it though.
