With the new patch and most teams going to zone, how important is the zone coverage rating on players?
It's pretty useless tbh. I had guys at 90+ zone stand there and do nothing. I also had guys with mid 80 zone make insane picks. The game is a random inconsistent mess
That's what I majority use depending on the formation. Pretty much a bend but don't break defense
it's important but if you run match they switch to man at some point, but it's important to know what zone coverages to run
I'd say it's important if you run a zone scheme. Sure, zone doesn't always seem like it's working. But when it is working the players with higher zone seem to react better.
Just like all ratings, it doesn't tell the whole story. AWR, PRC, and PUR all play into it, as well as traits such as how they play the ball in the air. Then abilities add another layer onto that.
Also, just like any defense, if you're not mixing it up and calling some man coverage plays and/or adjusting your scheme to mix in some man coverage, you will get figured out by a decent player. Zones are very easy to maniupulate, especially if your opponent does not know how to run match coverage.
It's an important attribute, but these are some other considerations for running a zone scheme.
I run Cover 2 man primarily and mix in zone coverages if the player can consistently beat cover 2 man. My CBs have decent zone, but i also run 86 gonzalez in the slot and he plays just as well in zone as he does in man and zone is 6 points lower.

Bro Nothing works after patch, my zones are crap also or they're amazing depends on the game. My Man gets cooked well done every play.
