I can’t seem to find a play that will cover drag routes that happen across the line of scrimmage. There are no zones that go that close to the line and I get cooked on man to man with them. I also can’t seem to stop verticals going across the middle of the field or that go towards the sideline any play suggestiona would really help.
Set your flat zones to 5 yds or 0 yds and then you can spy a dt to catch them coming across the middle. DT will just stand up and sometimes you catch them off guard and get a pick. Could also lurk with an LB or safety in the middle. If they start hitting the corner route because of your shallow flats then you should use a mable cover 2 setup. Set your curl flats to 5 yds and your flats to 25-30 yds, same thing in the middle with a dt or lb lurking. You have to watch the deep in zone in cover 2 though because it will be wide open. Best defense for alot of deep routes is set zones to match and use cover 4 palms out of nickel. This still can be beat, but if you learn about the match responsibilities it can be very effective. There are lots of videos on youtube about this. Another one is cover 3 seam out of nickel, also seems to work well for vertical routes. You're never going to stop everything, but if you can start getting some Turnovers you will win games. Good luck brotha!
