SS on WR1 in mcv

Yes I know coach adjustments exists, but no matter how I set my corner matchups I can't get my CB1 to cover the WR1 in man, its always the WR2. I know this is how it typically works irl but that doesn't translate to madden. I'm running a TT so my SSs are liabilities covering the WR1, and whether I base or align, man, or default, and no matter how much I change my corner matchups my CB1 never covers the WR1. Am I missing something?

This never used to be a problem for me but EA decided to remove defensive assignments because it was too much work I guess.

Just substitute them in the play call screen, figure out who you want on the WR1 and sub them in for whoever is there currently. That should work. You could also adjust the coach settings to Cover WR based on OVR if your Cb1 is the highest ovr he should take the highest ovr WR which should generally be the WR1, not always the case though. Try to just get good coverage players at every position and then it's not an issue though! Good Luck!
