Swapped to XBOX from PS ... HELP

Took 23 off
Started 24 on Thanksgiving
I have figured out most of the lineup builder changes out and can play in game again. Cannot for the life of me figure out how to sub players in game in formation. Usual linebacker for a safety at sub. 

Also, any recommendations for easing the transition.

You click y on the formations tab and can cycle thru who to pick and who to put in at the different positions. It also says it on the bottom under all your plays. Like RS in is coaching adjustments, etc….

Just playing the game is what I would recommend it can take awhile to adjust to new buttons. Not sure if helps but if you think of the position of the buttons on the controller you'll find that they do the same thing. Like triangle and y are both the top button and they do the same thing in the xbox and ps games

Welcome back.  I just started around this time last year, so my second MUT squad.  I had a hell of a time figuring out how to actually substitute in-game, not from the typical Coaching menu i'd rely on during Solo Battles, etc.  For me (on PS5), you'll need to press the Xbox equivalent of the Triangle button while you are specifically looking at your Formations tab, before selecting a play.  Search for "Gun" formation, press "Triangle" (it's either X or Y, i cannot recall the proper order on Xbox, but the top / center button) and scroll through until you find the desired player to remove or change.

LurkArtist is a new ability (for linebackers) and it's amazing.  It's basically Pick Artist AND Lurker combined.  We're just about to start seeing slight revisions on many of the traditional ability buckets, EA is similarly merging numerous abilities.  Defense is extremely difficult this year, when you notice your games become shootouts, i assure you it's not you.  It's just the way things play this year.  That being said, the attempts at some type of "balance" in the game are actually quite decent.  First time in my life i've seen MCS tournament play and all the teams are NOT clones of one another.  Heck, there may have even been 3 or 4 different quarterbacks in a recent MCS finals.  Whatever play style you prefer, the choices seem to be there, assuming you are okay with the trade-offs.

Overall, MUT is a real mess, though.  As unfortunate as that may be.  Welcome, welcome!  Sorry no advice for easing that transition, but should be mostly smooth and similar once you've had a chance to dive into practice mode and commit the buttons to muscle memory.
