Just recently put together a 50/50 jags team with all fillers being the best DBs in the game and jack Campbell. Holy cow man I was matched up with the best absolute possible team in the game .
So with that being said I’m pretty sure we can confirm. OVR is a HUGE part of matchmaking, or maybe it’s team value?

I just watched 89 speed Polamao run step for step with 97 speed Gurley equipped with backfield master for 30 yards downfield and then he picked off the throw for good measure. Should never happen if the equalizer is a fantasy…

if you play long enough you will see some super crazy sh*t..... like people with 85 or less safeties & cornerbacks that get crazy coverage & picks. I know people think good cards make them better but? I think most people's win/loss ratio would be the same w/ a decent squad or maybe even better than if they had the best players.
I think alot of the pro's are starting to recognize this they aren't even using the best top players anymore, EA wanted everybody to use aikman and set feet lead during the tournament and top players etc they just refused to do it and kept they same squad, they kept questioning it and trying to promote SFL on aikman the whole time, like overly promoting it every play. I just don't know how many cards they going to keep pushing to people and abilities if they aren't working for them, it's kinda crazy people don't see that they aren't working to win them games.
I understand that abilities animate and look great visually etc, but if you aren't winning because of it? how do people not notice that after playing so much?
just like everybody was saying how crazy lurk artist is, but it causes you to get poor animation's on other stuff after you have really great lurk artist animations and it ends up costing you the game most of the time, I honestly see my lower tier team make amazing plays w/ no abilities. if someone actually tested the cause & effect it would be very interesting I just don't think nobody does because that don't make money, selling cool abilities & cards to people who think it works makes all the cash. somehow they don't even notice they don't have top level records but have top level teams.
So I bought Gurley and he's been a stud. Hasn't affected my games so far. Just another data point.

Yeah I passed on the N Smith card. Kearse and Sweat are nails and I get 2x Eagles chems from N Smith’s rookie premier.

this is where the budget players come in to play a lot of the time. I still have Kamren Curl's 87 OVR In my lineup at sublb. a lot of pro's saw the thanksgiving tournament where people had so many different quarterback's and defensive formations that weren't from the last tournament (aka the 3-3 cub era). and while I do admit they we're promoting that ability every play the person who won only had HRM with a good scheme. I do still believe velocity chems are important because their's some throws that I know I can zip faster but not capable to. but that's all in scheme, which requires a certain player to do a certain thing. but the best example of crap being sold to us was when daking had a whole bunch of stonewalls all over his team and drini was still gaining extra yards with all those guys lighting up. even unfakeable was able to get broken off too many times.
I already had tangents about this. but to reiterate " it's a bunch of blah on the screen."
as for lurk artist... after some time I do think safeties move better in this game. you can get a way with one linebacker but I still think safeties blitz faster and cover ground more than them. but I generally think we've grown smarter than to invest in the latest cards In the game. (since I don't run into them instantaneously.)
TL;DR: everyone is learning how to score in this game more than years past; which leads to more variety in the game; but it's still a copy-cat game just like the NFL.
DDA didn't help me today when I matched up against a guy with both Cover Athletes and Todd Gurley. But I do believe that it matters sometimes, which is frustrating.
Guys in the league that run 4.68 40-yard dashes don't suddenly run 4.08's, but at random moments, dated cornerbacks and linebackers make the most insane plays. And it's tough for those of us that are paying attention to who is on the field, because we expect a certain degree of response and speed from those guys, and then the whole system seems to get dismissed for the sake of 'fair competition'.
Tiering is better than DDA. There's no reason weaker players can't be matched against weaker players, or that weaker squads can't be matched against weaker squads. There are enough people playing to make competitive matchups consistently possible.

Totally agree in theory, but skill based match making tears communities like CoD apart. There is no way to do it properly.
The game that gets it right is MLB the Show, and that’s only because the game actually gets harder as you progress in rank. However, players can still match across rank levels.
