i know it takes FOREVER to do the sets for the 92s but i want to build it i like building sets and i wanna try todd gurley since hes 6.5 Mil on Old gen but will i make profit?? i kow some sets arent profitable but some are really profitable so should i do the set?
Do the sets
I honestly don't know what to recommend here, especially on last-gen. I was able to build the Merton Hanks for my 49ers TT using some binder trash, but it still ultimately cost me 250k+ coins. The value (on PS5) was in the ~500k range when i initially finished it, however i fully expect these prices will come down (somewhat) once folks start hitting level 50 and are able to purchase the 2800 Points Special Offer pack from the shop.
Even if you could build every card for ~300k, that's still nearly 10M coins. Not to mention the sheer amount of time it would take. As far as actual profit, i'd focus on selling the set pieces at a steep markup for the most high-demand Team Diamonds players/sets. For example, on PS5, the Dak Prescott 83 OVR has been selling for 100-200k plus ALL DAY. It's crazy how fast they sell, especially on the weekends.
Hard to say what the economy on last-generation consoles looks liek, but i'd seriously urge you to consider upgrading your console before you sink too much more time and money and resources into the last-gen experience. If you can afford Todd Gurley, just buy it from the AH -- however, if you can afford that Gurley card, you almost certainly should be able to grab a used PS5 (of Xbox) from Craigslist or Facebook marketplace, heh. I managed to grab a second console for my bedroom for $300 this summer. It's only Digital Edition PS5, but allowed me to finally retire the PS4 Pro. YMMV, good luck, sorry i'm not better equipped to help understand last-gen markets. There's some really smart and experienced players still tinkering on PS4, hopefully they see your thread here.
And especially sorry for forcing some unsolicited recommendations about your last-gen console experience, i know i was overstepping there. Hopefully some food for thought, good luck. I'd almost certainly buy from AH.
I was able to make #1 Gurley on old gen Xbox and sold him for 10 mill. It was VERY profitable because I also sold all the team cards for about 1 mill each.
But that's not the case any more. Gurley's like 5 mill and the team cards have crashed. I think the sets would be a huge L now... I recommend waiting until they release some sort of Team Diamonds roll for training which would make the sets cheaper to complete.
I'm on PC which has a lot more slower and sleepier market, I'd imagine its similar to last gen markets. I did the math a couple days ago on every single TD sets and only found around 4 or 5 to be profitable in total if all cards were acquired by their averages and I was able to sell the card for what it sold for. However the problem is you're gonna get cucked by 2-3 cards on every single set that arent expensive but never come up on the market. And by the time you found those cards and you put your guy up on the market he might have depreciated in value by 50k or so. But, if you had enough money on hand to do all the sets at the same time and eat the losses, you'd still make around 3M selling the JJ Watt at 6M accounting for the 10% tax by my calculations. Overall, its not worth it and if you know how to use your coins to make more I think its better to have those coins on hand for moves than to lock it up in trying to finish Team Diamonds for possibly a week.
Just a few minutes ago I finally completed a Team Diamonds Champion Set, and thereafter sold J.J. Watt #421, and my coin balance now stands at 4.7m, about 3 million more than I had when I started. The process of making the requisite 32 sets cleared out most of the elites from my binder, although I didn't have to sell any of my lineup cards. It's hard to say what my overall profit was, but I do believe there was a net gain in the end.
The process itself consumed many hours, and there was much frustration, and constantly cycling between denial and capitulation as the market ebbed and flowed is certainly not my idea of fun.
If there was a bright spot, the process provided a crash course into an exaggerated form of the market manipulation that evidently happens every day in MUT. I have gained some valuable insights into the different psychologies motivating my fellow gamers, and those should help me maximize my leverage in the market.
Finally, I dealt with some very negative emotions toward the users that conspired to snipe cards and corner the market on random elites like C.J. Ham and L'Jarius Sneed. Feelings I would never act on, but dark moments nonetheless.
It should be noted that I completed many of the sets when the market crashed earlier this week, and from about midday yesterday, prices got extremely volatile. Make sure that you are able to maintain a balance of at least one million coins as you complete the final sets and sell the individual set cards: I paid 140k for Sneed to complete the Philip Rivers set, which thereafter sold for 170k.
If not completed within the next day, I can't see a scenario where I recommend trying. The prices for both Watt and Gurley have been steadily falling.
I finished a few days ago. The prices have gone so much that I’m just keeping Watt. They could easily go back up in time. As more and more 90+ players become cheaper people will stop selling those low 80’s players you need and they will just add them to complete sets, so it will likely become harder to find the players needed to complete. Plus you have people who may get this game for Christmas already behind the ball wanting these. Who knows how many people have actually finished the sets is hard to know. With all that being said it was a pain to do it all and I broke about even between building the cards and selling them. All I have to show for is 1 ok card.
