What % of people who play Madden do u think know football vs just wanna play a video game?

I used to think that people who play Madden are football fans with knowledge of the game but I see so many people go against fundamentals that it makes me think.

In H2h and in squads....you see guys taking the kickoff out of the end zone when odds are you'll be worse off. I get going for it on 4th...but I mean, for example, in a squads game....I am running defense. Set my DE to spy the QB and my teammate hops on him and pass rushes with him. QB rolls out and runs right by where he would have been. I got guys usering my CBs, smh. 

I see opponents in H2h doing the same thing. I come out in jumbo heavy set and my opponent comes out in dime....I just plow the ball up the middle for 10 every time. I just wonder how many people understand the game of football that play? 

I'm not snobby about it but I AM curious about it

The ones that really burn me are the folks who do onside kicks after every score.  It's like...show me any team, college or pro that does that.  It's really annoying.

EA allows it so they do it. Most people who play this game don't play it like a football game, they play it like a videogame. Of course, it is a videogame but it's sold as a realistic game

There's also a chance to break a long one or even a touchdown and to go even further with it in Madden there is really  no difference with starting at the 25 or the 15.

Also sounds like you had a crappy teammate with   zero communication between you two.

In my opinion >75%  if the playerbase know the basics of Football.  Madden is also a videogame  so it doesn't really matter how many of them understand it, they're just going to copy someone elses play.

I don't think people would do it as much if it wasn't so effective. I'm pretty sure onside kicks in mut are way more effective than they are irl. Still, we can thank ea for that.

Yea i agree. I would be surprised if there are morw than 1-2 successful onside kicks in a full NFL season

Well, many comp players just either let the ball go through the end zone or if the kick isn't deep most of them just hit the turf to avoid a hit stick/fumble.

Even if the communication wasn't there, who users a player in a QB spy and pass rusher him, or users a CB?

I guess I am more cynical than you about these things LOL

They are muchhhh more effective in MUT than IRL, there's like probably a 20-30% chance of recovering even if the other team comes out in onside recovery or hands team if you kick it correctly. If they come out in normal recovery for a standard kickoff I'd say you got like a 35-45% chance of getting the ball back if you high kick out of strong offside with about 75% power and accuracy. 

I'm a football fan first and Madden fan second, but people probably should go for it every time in Madden because the odds of conversion are so much higher than IRL. They have the job of balancing realism of the real thing with the fun that comes with a video game. While there are some principals of real life that carry over I'm never shocked when I see people going for it on 4th and 27 in the first quarter with a lead...

Seriously! Maybe some from playing fantasy too but not much. Fantasy got me into Madden and now I dint even play fantasy or watch football. It’s kind of sad lol. Just addicted to MUT and H2H.

Not sure how many folks have "knowledge" of the game...my guess is it would be about the same as those who "think" they know the game.  I guess at the end of the day folks do some of the things you noted (return out of the end zone or go for it on 4th) because those players realize it is a video game and meant to be enjoyed (some enjoy flinging it around...and others enjoy playing like they are getting paid...I'm fine either way).  I have encountered both ends of the spectrum out there...those who play the video game like a video game...and those who are auditioning for a coaching or coordinating position...I have found the casuals to be more fun to play this video game with. But...I'm fine on the flip side of the coin as well (that is what concede buttons are for).

What’s sad is the number of people that think they know football because they know Madden. That’s about the same as someone that knows how to bake cupcakes and thinks that makes them capable of rebuilding a jet engine.

The thing is, this game started out in 1988 to be a football sim. I have always played it that way because I love football.
