I think you're referring to Base alignment, versus Default or Man align? Typically, whatever the play is, will have some default leverage built in. It's not very well documented, or communicated by EA and the in-game menus, but here's what i believe to be true (please do not take any of this as fact, unless you can check it yourself)... i'm just sharing my best-guesses.
For example, Cover 2 Man such as this would come with build in inside leverage.
Trying to read coverages, two safeties inside leverage would suggest man coverage. My question is why? What is it about lining up inside or outside that is so advantageous that CB’s would do it even though it’s a tell? I can see press—they want to throw the receiver off his route, but I don’t see the logic in alignment.
