Even with the cpu cheesing with his height?

Yes, being a cpu doesn't change the fact that tall players are good on defense because they can get more ints than short players.
Lewis is terrible. Carmichael is still one of the best sub LBers in the game

I see Ray Lewis on a TON of teams, which truly surprises me... I assume due to the fact he's got that 96 OVR rating, so folks get easily confused and assume he's really good. There are SOOO many good options these days with free 0AP LurkArtist. Carmichael gets the "Play Ball in the Air" = Aggressive when combined with that truly elite height is going to help you cover not only the immediate area of the field, but also a massive amount of 3D space, meaning liek ~15-20 yards down the field. Opponents will NOT be able to throw over top of him, especially if you've got him hovering and lurking in Hook Zones or whatever over the middle. YMMV, but i'd absolutely choose Carmichael. I'm using Donald Parham as my personal USER card (despite "only" being at 98 SPD on SB TT) for that insane 6'8" frame. You can't teach height. 😉

He was for me, just speaking from experience

Yea Lewis is definitely a disappointment imo. I use Howley and Parham as my users but i really miss Carmichael

Man after my own heart, i'm also using Howley (SUBLB2) and Parham. 🏆 Chuck is incredible, he doesn't get fatigued easily and awesome in pass coverage, he's come up big with so many picks over the middle for me whenever i drop 8 into coverage, which is often.

Howley has been insane too, 6'3 right so he has some decent height out there

If you can use the token on Howley he's your guy. I could not put Universal cvg on him. I do use him but when I feel it is a passing play my SubLBs are Parham and SB Kam. I can user either and leave the other in coverage .
If it is between Carmichael and Ray, it really depends on your opponent. If they do a lot of running, Ray is your guy. If you blitz, the same thing. In sheer coverage or even in a spy I think Harold is better
