Didn't EA give out a free 99 Ken Stabler last year? I missed out on him because I started late.
I did get a free 99 Joe Montana from Ultimate Legend tokens.
But EA and Madden seem different this year.
It seems like they are doing way more to squeeze money out of people and are giving out way less year.
We are getting more lower grade cards, we are getting more BNDs that can not be used for sets, they are increasing requirements to complete sets, they are taking away chemistry for the better longer lasting promotions (Legends, Ultimate Legends, TOTY), they are giving us less for tokens earned, they are giving us less for presents, etc.

No, never spend all coins on one player. i Got Mahomes 96 SB ltd at rental price (400k) bc my qb was cheeks.

They’re doing the same this year we get ultimate legend tokens I’d assume as the overalls go up the set will go up too just like last year and this year. Last year they never let us use bnds in Sets so that’s nothing new. It’d be nice for how often they give us them that we’d be able to but that ships sailed awhile ago. Like you said they are all about the money being spent on points and will do the bare minimum on everything else Whether it be rewards or fixing issues

Unless you love Mahomes I would go with almost any other QB. His release was so bad for me.
Get QB Bo for half the coins.

I truly think they know they are losing the exclusive license (probably by choice like they did with FIFA) and are just doing exactly what you said, squeezing for every last drop of blood they can get while they still can. Growing the game and long term planning are no longer part of their thought process at all.
Its similar to a slum lord who ignores the many complaints of his tenants and never fixes anything yet keeps raising the rent etc just waiting for the building to be condemned.

Oh and as for the topic im in a similar position. I was really hoping allen would have a better release and/or stack (still havent tried him yet other than the solos where he was awful bjt so eas the whole team, i think it was bc of no abilities) so im in an awkward position contemplating going broke for 99 mahomes or downgrading back to aikman. Bos alright but other than his release I just dont love him. Im not much of a runner with my qbs so thats prob why.

Balance out your team and when you get more coins then buy mahomes.

Personal preference and your particular playstyle also matter a lot here, but there's no universe where the Mahomes MVP is a good buy. Don't allow that magic golden "99" to trick you into thinking he's somehow better than your other options.
My personal preference is the quick and buttery smooth Traditional 4 release (which is good enough to run with or without Gunslinger ability), hence why i'm currently sticking with Bo (QB). I'm also running Master Tactician on him to save AP, in order to free up a little extra to have numerous Secure Protectors on my O-line, which is basically the only thing that hopes to slow down various X-factors, such as Unstoppable Force or Colossus. If you can wait 9 plays, this will give you a roughly equivalent ability stack with Mahomes, but i've had to adjust my roster to slide a couple Apprentices (namely TE and WR/Slot) to provide a bit of wiggle room until HRM finally activates.
Slinger 3 isn't terrible, especially on deep balls, i did use Troy Aikman for a brief bit, til Combine dropped. Same release (Slinger 3) that Josh Allen TOTY has, which is one of the handful of actually decent TOTY cards that dropped. However, it does take a bit to get the ball out on short-mid throws, especially those quick outs to his strong (right) side of the field. YOU will have to determine how viable this is, but there's a handful of QBs vastly superior to the MVP option... and potentially cheaper. In no particular order:
- Doug Williams
- Troy Aikman
- Bo Jackson
- Joe Flacco
- Josh Allen
- Steve "Air" McNair
