Ok, that's better

That's just the excuse to make you feel better about this crappy behavior from the community.
Y'all sit in one thing all game knowing that 8 out of 10 times its going to work unless you happen to fall upon the *Very very very small percentage of people who are actually good at the game, or the larger percentage who can out cheese your cheese*
The game is bad because you're all content with playing so badly. EA is just shifting its focus to accommodate it all.
EA doesn't need devs because y'all only need one or two plays to be happy.
EA doesn't need a robust NFL player base because y'all only care about abilities and mainly the abilities that play the game for you which is just sad.
EA can make everything LTDs and y'all will pay millions and millions for them because you need love to "measure sticks" instead of stick slapping EA.
If you hate the game so much why are you still here posting?

I don't hate the game.
Yes its bad and they make it super easy for bad players to win ( just look at all those posts where people with 20 mill teams still crying about QB releases and how " " has wack abilities ) but i found a niche within the game thats fun , engaging, and challenging .
TLDR
My issues aren't with the game, its with the playerbase who rely on everything but themselves to win games.
I still post because sometimes the conversations here intersect with what I feel too.
It is a forum for MUT after all lol

It’s a 4-3 set where your outside backers are on the line of scrimmage just outside your DEs and your MLB is sat in between your dts a few yards off the line
a lot of people run really effective 5-6 man blitzes out of it but it’s seen as a “cheese defense” because you basically have to pray for the blitz to come in or else a lot of players who rely on the blitz get cooked

I'd like to add my two cents here:
In football, you need to play to your opponent. If your opponent does the same thing every time, you need to adjust and beat it.
Sometimes, in Madden especially, some people just have significantly better players than you because they have spent a lot of money. That isn't fun, but it is just part of the game.
When you're flustered, you tend to forget tactic and try to force things. The fact is, no matter how much you want it, throwing a corner route when the defense is playing it perfectly is NOT going to work. You must do other things because the defense is taking that away. When you stop trying to force your will on the defense, and take what they give you, the burden of change shifts to the defense. Now they have to adjust to what you're doing to beat what they're doing. It's a fun/annoying chess match lol
The frustrating thing for me is when my opponent runs a "cheese" scheme/play over and over and I can't find a way to beat it. Yes, it's annoying to have to run the same offensive play over and over in order to beat the defensive play they're running over and over, but you can't control who you play in Madden or in life. Just gotta adapt and overcome. Working out that mindset is a fun thing for me, but I can understand how it wouldn't be for others who are just trying to have fun lol.

I rarely blitz out of it..pinch line and put des on contain to help rollout...if in the pats playbook you also get access to a Tampa so can run a double Mable easily. With the size of defenders its very easy to play coverage out of if willing to alter drops which is why its really most effective out of that playbook but it still has holes like all defenses

Have you used blitz Tampa 2
I spam the hell outta RPOs vs 6-1

I'm not complaining about how hard it is to stop, its actually easier since there's only a handful of formations to memorize now. Solo Battles on Legendary make better opponents than what H2H offers.
I'm complaining about the low standards loving playerbase. who'd rather defend and deflect their behaviors instead of learning to be better at the game
natehaynes87 said:What is 6-1? A formation?
Aye, it's a base defensive formation that is extremely popular right now, both with casual players (because it's super easy to set up) and also with the Comp scene, as again, it's quick and easy to run and does a really decent job taking away most things your opponent will try.
Here's all the plays you can call from it, plus the teams/playbooks you'll find it in: https://www.ea.com/games/madden-nfl/madden-nfl-24/playbooks/formations-defense/m24-even-6-1-4-3
It's available in a TON of playbooks, so there's a strong chance you might have the option to run this currently. Chiefs is a fantastic defense if you need some suggestions to try. Everyone should have received that during Superbowl promo if you were playing then.

I found many of the recent House Rules or special (i.e. extremely short) game modes, especially that 1 play Tug of War nonsense to be extremely tedious, because i'm 100% with what you stated above, i enjoy the chess match, the head games understanding what the opponent is doing and trying to adjust to take those things away. I realize i'm probably playing children the majority of the time, so i don't know why i expect these folks to have "heart" but gosh it's far too common for folks to give up and rage-quit after throwing one bad pick.
I get it, we all do it at times and there's tons of valid reasons to keep moving and find a better / more appropriate opponent, but it so very often feels liek the majority of folks have one (or at best a handful) of plays they run, if you're able to demonstrate you can take those away, well... they're not interested in actual competition. Bleh.
The most surprising aspect of this (to me, at least) was the fact this happens at ALL levels of gameplay. I couldn't believe it when i loaded up the MCS Finals stream only to see a dude running the same RPO cheese most folks I face tend to use as a crutch. I'm definitely guilty of this, as well... why bother trying or learning the game when there's an easy-button to press. Oof. Ultimately, i fault EA for this buggy ass mess we're stuck with.

we all know offense is strong.
we all know if the pass rush is strong by putting SP and boosting pass block power and finesse to 99
we all know there are certain corner routes that beat purples and blues over 30 and 5 zone drops
we all know nickel normal/over, dollar, and dime sets can be scored upon
I agree with all of this and honestly it will never change.
Well middle cross can’t beat it if you user a coverage mlb so cover the crosser and have all slot cbs and lock down

If you use the pats playbook, and know when to pinch, and more importantly when not too pinch your line, it can be one of the best defenses in the game because all of the different customizable blitzes one can do out of it.
