At this point in the game, WR abilities really don't affect the game much (Irvin), and there are alternatives to some of the players (Phillips, Jones, Derwin) so it made Tariq the easy pick at 6'4". His cards always play well and he'll have the best longevity on the squad.

I don't really feel like Phillips has a close alternative when you also add in he gets Colossus for 1 AP for basically the entire game. My thing with Tariq is we always get a ton of CBs especially with great ability stacks and abilities are even more important than body frame at this point.

Sapp is close, albeit you need the Light It Up Token.

But your reasons are valid, that is definitely why I included Phillips in the top 3. And I actually went and bought his LTD after seeing his ability and x-factor after taking Woolen BND. Lol. Woolen for 1 AP Deep Zone KO and Pick Artist is great. He'll be CB1, and as other cards come out, he'll eventually be SS1 in a Cover 3 scheme.

That 6'4" height is extremely rare, especially for an outside corner. My only real "gripe" with him is no included Pick Artist, but hard to complain with an elite physical (and stats to back it up) end-game cornerback, equipped with fantastic X-factor options, as well as Deep + Mid Zone KO for 2AP. Then i went and built Peanut Tillman to play opposite Tariq, moved Ji`Ayir Brown back to his natural position (SS), instead of the outside CB role he had been filling, which gave me the ability to restore two D-line X-factors, without compromising much of anything with my DBs.

I really wanted to take Patrick Willis, so I could pair him with Fred Warner on my 50/50 49ers theme team, however it's still feeling far too gimped, so I'll be sticking with 707/70 Superbowl + 25/50 49ers (and 6/6 AKA Crews) hybrid TT for the foreseeable future. Not that anyone cares, but that was a brief overview of my rationale behind how and why I ultimately ended up choosing Tariq late last night.

Zero regrets, he's already had multiple interceptions, one of which he returned for a pick-six, enabling me to clutch up the +1000 Chocolate final House Rules victory.

I was 50/50 between Woolen and one of the safeties and reading this review earlier swayed me. He hasn't allowed a completion in the few targets his way. His side is no fly zone.

I was REALLY tempted by Derwin James and/or Reshad Jones (especially for this 1AP Deep Out + Mid stack), but ultimately the elite physicals (98 base SPD + Strategy item coupled with truly elite physicals, i.e. height) is what ultimately tipped the scales for me and the potential option of having two great X-factors (Reinforcement or Universal Coverage) and zero regrets.

Glad you found the line of thinking helpful, this was one of the more difficult roster decisions I've had to make in recent memory, due to the excellent high-end choices from that lovely pack. I believe Tariq had played 8 H2H games for me thus far, had a couple/few picks, one of which was that pick-six to seal my victory. THEN i went and built Peanut Tillman set (sorry if i'm repeating myself, should have scanned my prior post history before rambling away) to play opposite Tariq and was able to put both D-line X-factors back on Sapp and big George. I had to burn my Madabeast and Anytime players that Tillman set, but giving up a kick returner is a small price to pay for a second elite corner. And since the 98 BND Candy store set was lacking the Andrew Thomas LT (for that sweet 0AP Secure Protector), i ultimately chose Christian Barmore, so was intending to replace Madabeast anyway.
