I started playing mut in m15. spent the money had great teams built through the years. quit for a bit. now i just grind the free stuff and have built a competitive 91 ovrall team with nms and picking up players from free packs and buying some speed guys off the block. ive played maybe 15 h2h games total, im a good player and understand the typical brokenness of madden can put up a good battle with top tier team that arnt as skilled or dline user. with all that said... why do ppl act like such dbags when scoring long tds vs an obviously worse card like a bunch os 88-92s ? its really not much of an accoplishment to beat my team or score or anything to be show boating to the endzone or glitch blitz all game.

First, WELCOME (back)! Absolutely wonderful to see you here, even if you are becoming my mortal enemy. =) Sorry, still salty that Kyle BananaHands 🍌👐 managed to choke yet again and lose us another Lombardi, uggh.
I wish i could begin to explain how or why the MUT community is so damn toxic, but as with most everything else, i ultimately blame EA and fault them for each and every misstep along the way. For whatever reason, they've managed to bring out the absolute worst in the player-base and community at large. I wish i were kidding, but i've literally had opponent's thank me at the end of games, for simply hopping on the mic to finish with a little "GG, man" which went something along the lines of, "Oh gosh, THANK YOU for not being toxic. I heard your mic click on and assumed you were going to gloat."
How truly unfortunate, that extending a simple good game to your opponent is worthy (it's not, should be expected behavior, sadly there's no such thing as sportsmanship, oof) of praise. Hell, if i come out and get any indication that my opponent isn't comfortable playing or using even a high-end squad, I'll try to purposely NOT end pressure, almost never blitzing... well, that is, until something liek what you stated above happens. If you start gloating, especially over some stupid or lucky scenario, i'm taking the kid gloves off and going to try and grind you into the turf, meaning Angry Runs, going for two, onsides kicks. I prefer to keep things classy (and competitive), but i'm not above fighting fire with fire.
Heck, i've been matched up against literal children, with no abilities on ANY of their cards, in which case i will typically throw the game and let them win, unless it's crucial for my own progress, even then, i do try to keep the game somewhat close, purposely run committing to help ensure they can score, whatever it takes. This stuff is supposed to be fun, but I'll grief my opponent if they beg for it.
Glad you're back, please let us know if you have any questions about roster choices or new abilities or whatever. There is definitely enough skill gap where it's feasible to compete, assuming you have some basics in place. What QB you using? Doug Williams is an awesome budget option at ~100k. Or any card that gets this Traditional 4 QB Release style.

80% of the community are toddlers.

appreciate the reply! yes its awful how toxic its gotten. im similar myself in the past when my team is 99 everything ill put up a quick 14 and if they dont quit out i chew clock and just play coverage all game. i find it to be a good way to test schemes and plays. currently qb i use is a 92 ovr free montana lol i truly am just playing for shits n giggles as i just caved to playing mut aging since m19 like 3 weeks ago. this new superhero football bs hasnt appealed to me at all but its not going away as it looks

Outstanding, Joe Cool does fit both of our theme teams and that Traditional 1 release might quite possibly be THE best in the entire game... unfortunately there haven't really been any truly high-end QB options that get that (yet). Hopefully someone will make a Montana Golden Ticket for us, unless he somehow gets blessed with a Ring of Honor. That might get me to finally move off of Bo Jackson QB, who is and remains best in the game.
Hrmm, i may need to take another glance at that same Joe card, i might be able to get away with using him now on the Niners theme team, if i were to pair him with enough WR/TE/RB Apprentices to work around the lack of HRM. It's been a while, i was determined to find a use for him, he's definitely superior to Purdy (and perhaps even that Mahomes MVP -- Slinger 2 is so odd, i was constantly taking sacks, as Kermit failed to get the ball out in a timely manner, with the hitch in his throwing motion).
And yeah, sadly, this game is in an overall shoddy state and simply cannot or will not improve unless/until EA allows the exclusive NFL licensing agreement to expire... in May 2026, but who's counting. Welcome to the machine, the game is best enjoyed almost exactly as you are doing, just drop in for shits and giggles, try to extract what little fun we're able and scoot out before the warts become painfully obvious.

joe does alright. severely lacking in throw power as all deep balls seem under thrown and pickable even with couple yds separation. also could just be the shit coding of ea that doesn't understand throw arc since ever. idk. you tell me?
i used patty a few times in mut draft. 86ovr. takes him forever just to throw a drag route. its awful
they make too much off ppl to lose their exclusive licensing or even care to make a game good anymore. shit if im getting paid for a broke product i wouldn't fix it either.

For Quarterbacks, it's absolutely essential to have either Set Feet Lead or Pass Lead Elite, whichever is cheaper from an AP cost standpoint. The widely regarded "quad stack" (sometimes also called god-stack) would be comprised of the following QB abilities:
- SFL/PLE -- improves velocity of your QB, enabling you to fit the ball into tighter windows. The game is ridiculously difficult without one of these
- Gift-Wrapped -- unfortunately, receivers still drop wide open passes, absolutely worth the 1AP investment, even on 99 OVR cards
- Gunslinger -- improves the rate at which the ball comes out, helping to avoid pressure/sacks, this is where that Joe Montana shines with Trad1, he's fine without GS ability, however i would almost always assume this is beneficial. Traditional 4 (and Trad1) might be the only releases in the entire game that do not require this.
- HRM -- entirely option, although kind of a luxury, if not outright necessity for much online comp play, although there's starting to be enough receiver options that come with some variety of RB/TE/WR/Slot/Outside Apprentice(s) that it's recently become feasible to work around this
Anything else is probably a luxury. Juke moves are stupendous this year, as i'm sure you've figured out, making Evasive and Jukebox exception on both RBs and receivers, often allowing you to break a tackle and take it down the field for a huge gain. Don't Hit Stick on defense, use the R1 trigger button (or Xbox equivalent) to perform a USER-Strip, which is significantly more effective this year, although old habits die hard, i can often still be guilty of being a hit-stick whore, despite knowing there is a better way.
Just some random thoughts / summary, hope that's a little relevant or useful to you.

Heheoahoehoaeae, typically this would also be my advice, but since i'm struggling to do that myself and OP also stated he's (mostly) aware of just how bad, lazy, pathetic, inept EA can be, well... i got the sense he sort of knew what he was signing up for. This game might be worth $35 if you are able to just casually drop in and out, leaving all the stream of bullshit nonsense at the door. Unfortunately, it's not feasible to work around the toxic community, which has become more pervasive than ever. As long as you've got thick skin, there's some minor fun to be had here or there in brief spurts.

hahahahah no worries man. m19 was the last year of true investment in mut. im almost positive this is the worst madden gameplay wise ive ever played. particularly love the streaking wr at my saftey who has zero reaction whatsoever until its caught and even sometimes has his back to the play lol

hahaha no worries, i got the game for 20$ . been running franchise the last few years to get my football fix but the free players and season pass has helped me casually build and grind with ease. as well as the upgrade tokens for random players they give out. outside that. 92s- 99s barely even play different its sooooo bad how reaction and sheds and such are coded
