I have it on 3 guys for 3 ap in total but idk if I should use edge protector on my tackles and keep secure protector on my guards or if I should just keep secure protector on all of them does it work that well on old gen?
EA should give us old gen folks a list of what doesn’t work on PC rather than make us have to figure it out by trial and error.

Unfortunately, it's this way across ALL consoles/platforms and generations. EA does a piss-poor job communicating things, i assume partially based upon the fact that they don't have a clue how their own game operates. They clearly do not understand the meta, nor which abilities are working and effective, let alone truly elite.
But yes, Secure Protector is an absolute requirement on both Tackles and Center, at minimum. In a perfect world you'd have all five with SecurePro. It is NOT the same as Edge Protector, in fact, SP is the only potential counter to all the various D-line X-factors, such as Unstoppable Force and/or Colossus.

Does old gen get those x-factors though? I wouldn't think that they do. If that's the case, I'd use any 0 AP Secure Protectors but wouldnt go out my way to add it 1+ AP.

No to colossus yes to unstoppable force which is still a real beast of an ability on old gen, I have it on AD and Orakpo on my Dline gets me many sacks and it also is the reason I use SP on all 5 lineman at a cost of 3 ap I believe.

Better safe then sorry I have Bolles, Dotson, Kelce, Larry Allen, Onwenu all with Secure Protector costing me 3 ap it’s worth it to me to stop unstoppable force. At one Point I had it on Donald, The Fridge, and Orakpo and it was just wrong I took it off The fridge and put an X factor at cornerback

That's good confirming. I have trouble keeping track which abilities actually work on current-gen, let alone other versions of the game, oof.
Unstoppable Force is no joke. SP an absolute must, IMO.
Wait, some of the comments here have confused me. Is PC considered old-gen? I thought it transitioned to be the same as current gen this year/release?

I would think it would be current since it would have current capabilities unless EA didn’t give them the new abilities this year and will upgrade next year due to the much smaller player base there like with the old gen consoles which may not get a game next year tbh.

Yeah I’ve been trying to get the word out there mut.gg has the abilities on here represented by a star I noticed that this year those are the abilities old gen doesn’t get. check the ability on here if it’s represented by a star old gen gets an empty spot in the ability bucket for that.

You da man, thanks again for schooling me on such things. Broke my heart to do it, but finally unplugged the PS4 Pro around uhhh September or October, or shortly after realizing we could no longer tinker with our squads between versions. Will definitely glance at those ability lists.

Yeah i‘m begrudgingly stuck on the PS4 version downloaded on my PS5 due to that even though I’ve had a PS5 long enough to get stick drift on my original controller.
