99 OVR Achieved!

I know I’m not the first, but I think this might be the earliest I’ve achieved 99 OVR!

Took a Lot of messing around today and getting LV to 5 to boost Van Roten to 99, but I did it!

Nice! Thats a really big accomplishment, i hope to have one of my own soon.

I didn't want to rain on anyone's parade, neat achievement, i guess -- but i feel liek we're all potentially misleading newer players by placing any amount of emphasis on these silly OVR ratings, which, as you so accurately pointed out, are essentially meaningless.

It's taken quite a while, but i've finally retrained my approach.  Rather than thinking of these as players or cards, i find it advantageous to basically match up abilities to areas of the field.  YMMV, but i find that helpful for me, personally.

Prime example of the toxicity of many on this site.  Not a big deal, but some people absolutely need to say something negative about any comment made on this site.  Many people find it an accomplishment to hit 99 OVR.  I know some of the whales out there might have better players that perform better at some positions.  Not asking for a medal or anything, but I don’t think the negativity is necessary…….

It's not negative. It's absolutely the truth. 99 is the most pointless thing in MUT. Chasing the carrot on a stick that doesn't benefit your team 99% of the time. Glad you got there but it's honestly pointless. 🤷‍♂️

My reply came off like a prick which I wasn't really looking to do. Truth is it's really meaningless. You stated my thoughts better.

No you are right ,  99 ovr means nothing as far as how well your team plays but for some it signals a chance to take their foot of the gas and maybe go touch grass or start over with a new account.  The other thing is that this is a MUT forum and this is where that kinda stuff gets posted because no one else cares. Pretty sure the OP didn't go tell his neighbor he just hit 99 ovr.  I agree with you but you  were a little harsh that's all

If I am understanding this correctly, OVR means nothing? So what is the point of upgrading your team? If it's just abilities than the best ability stacks on the field regardless of overall would be dominating. So if you boot up an 89 OVR team with "God stacks" and run it against my 99 OVR team with no abilities you would dominate? Unfortunately I find your premise of it not mattering to be very misleading and kind of sound like haters honestly.

Great job OP . Sincerely.  As one that also chased this goal it is hard to achieve this early. Ignore the haters and negativity.  They will get there someday.

Definitely was not trying to call you out or anything, merely showing up to agree, as I believe your intentions are pure when posting these type comments.  And quite frankly, what you are saying is without a doubt the truth and 100% accurate.  Wouldn't be the first time my own comments came across poorly, despite the original intent.

Wouldn't say it means nothing and also not sure at what point abilities are better than overall but it does seem that abilities overpower players overall.  I've been playing MUT for over 10 years and we all have a moment when we hit 99 no matter what anyone says.
