Been using universal coverage on Jaire and flat zone on Herb (who’s a near perfect slot corner btw mid, flat, and PA for 1 and crazy stats on packer TT) my defense is lockdown

Sure D Line X-Factors are fun when you play somebody without Secure Protectors, but they don’t make a difference against anybody with a great team. Being able to run Pick Artists and also knock out almost anything FOR A TOTAL of 1 AP on all three corners opens up ability options all over the place. It makes mixing in man and zone almost impossible to beat.
My current setup:
Asomugha (Universal Coverage, Pick Artist, Flat Zone, Outside Shade): 1 AP
Woolen (Universal Coverage, Pick Artist): 1 AP
Williamson (One Step Ahead, Pick Artist, Flat Zone, Short Route): 1AP
If you’ve been running Sapp, Donald, Karlaftis, Phillips, etc. for a while and are looking to change it up I highly recommend trying it out.
I liek your style. I only just recently did the same, adjusted my entire defensive philosophy... was kind of dragging my feet, waiting for people to understand the importance of Secure Protectors across the entire O-line. I continued to face numerous opponents who would run without SP and got, my three-man pass rush with Sapp & George all lit up was fairly consistent. Anyway, no regrets, definitely sticking with all three X-factors on my DBs; Nnamdia, Tariq (both UC, as well) plus Kam gets Dual Threat (and Mid Zone KO + PA), with TroyP at FS to round out the backfield. And of course both Slot corners also have Mid Zone KOs, only Peanut gets both (Flat + Mid), Deion is my primary return man at Slot2, Mid Zone + PA is reliable defending drags and crossing routes, as well as the flats.
It hasn't been that difficult to generate pressure, even if i have to send 4 or 5, i very often drop 8 back into coverage. Literally KOs everywhere on the field and both pass rushers finally have LurkArtist, although i haven't (yet) come up with any lucky shoe-string style picks in the backfield, but i'm eager for that tip drill to happen. I run a bunch of hybrid (mostly Zone shell, will often Man up TE or Slot receivers). First time all year i've felt liek i have way more AP than i need.

I'd recommend taking outside shade off of Nnamdi, it'll save 1 AP and typically if you're running man you're not going to get beat in coverage when the receiver is actually outside of the numbers, corner routes will cut before reaching the area and things like slants, drags, posts, crossers, are all inside the numbers. The only routes I can see it activating on are streaks and fades and man usually does fine with those.

If he’s running double post he definitely is 😭😭

Yeah I’ve really just been running it because I have an extra AP I have no idea where you run anywhere else. It does help on slants/deep posts though.
Shutdown, UC, and OSA are all solid. Shutdown is probably my favorite of all 3, one step ahead being the worst of the 3.

False KOs are so broken it’s stupid. They need to be removed or at least turned into an X factor only
I’ve been saying this since February😭
random question but should i use my light it up token on sapp or chancellor?

The Super Bowl one to get Secure Protector for free. Makes him the cheapest lineman in the game to get it.

so should i use my token on kam or sapp?
I run UC, mzko and pa on Ward for 0 ap. Osa, pa, drko and flat zone on Williamson for 1 ap. He goes too crazy
jwasylenko said:I typically just run what I would normally, but maybe a little bit more conservative on zone drops and more man. Hasn‘t really come back to bite me yet, but worse case they are all on by the second drive and the payoff is 100% worth it.
For people that disagree here, that‘s totally fine. Maybe it‘s not for everybody, but as somebody who has played this game competitively for a long time I‘ve noticed that it’s significantly more effective.
I agree completely. My D has gotten so much better even though my QB pressures are significantly worse.
