Which is the better defense and why?

i just get toted on in dollar, 61 is great vs compressed passing schemes, but it does struggle against spread.
whichever one gives your opponent problems. everyone online has a certain look they struggle against.

I've had a lot more success with 61, especially people that run a lot of bunch or bunch str don't like when that weakside rusher comes off unblocked. I feel like the blitzes out of dollar are more easily blocked without having to max protect.

if you feel that way start games in 6-1 until you face an opponent you can't stop and adjust accordingly.Â
I'm a flat merchant so I love facing 6-1 lol
Maybe run defenses according to the offensive personnel? you know kinda like real football instead of running meta defenses  that the pros use and 99% of the madden community. All these defenses are doing is attempting to  exploit the coding/ AI and make the game boring as all hell. If they run trips or trey I like cover 6 invert or cover 9  out of BNOG and shade accordingly (also like cover 3 cloud in some instances). If it’s gun tight there is some good blitzes and coverages out of dime. If they run single back/I form 3-4 and of course 6-1 is good. Bunch I like cover 6 trap. Doubles I like cover 3 buzz seam.. and always mix in different blitz packages to keep your opponent on their toes. Same goes for offense maybe use a wider variety of plays that pertain to the situation on the field instead of just running double post and rpos the entire game. I can’t wrap my head around how people have fun playing this game using the same 3 plays over and over again game after game it’s actually mind blowing.

Mix it up.Â
Especially in dollar. C4 , c6, if you get the right drops and KOs every level you will lock up most players.

I actually ran BNOG most of the year, It's great for coverage but after every lineman got secure protector for 0 AP, the only way to get pressure was blitzing a slot corner or a safety off the edge. It's nearly impossible to get a stop when your opponent consistently has 4+ seconds to throw the ball. So, the whole reason to run bnog is now compromised because you have to sacrifice coverage, or base align, turn auto flip off, slide the line left, slant right, and blitz the backside backer and cover up the RG with your user. Now we are back to cheesing the coding though... Dollar is pretty cheesy imo, but 61 is really a cat and mouse game of when am I going to send more than you can block and when am I going to drop 8 into coverage, which is a real football concept.
Offensively I'd agree, idk how people run stretch rpo every single play with angry runs and yac em up and have fun. idc how much winning they do. I run 6-7 formations, and a decent selection of plays from each. Then usually get somewhat creative with a HRM qb.

I do like the 61 formation and your right  you can disguise different coverages and blitzes like in the real game. The reason  why it’s cheesy is you can put 6’8 line backers with 99 speed that play coverage like dbs. You should be able to slice that up in 3-4 wr or empty sets. However in the game you can still bag it up in that formation especially if they're  really good with  drop adjustments and so forth  which Is unrealistic to me. BNOG has still been good to me but I have the blitz X factor on chase young which seems to help w all the secure protector abilities bc ur also right the qb can’t have 8 seconds to throw. Also why I’ll mix in  sending 5 or zero blitzes when they’re not expecting it when I’m getting dotted up. Dollar is just pure cheese bc I should be able to run all over that shit plain and simple. I run my defense according to the formation and the personnel with the plays that I feel work the best against it and on offense my average is 22 unique offensive plays from a wide variety of formations. My winning percentage isn’t too bad  I have a 100 more wins than losses and 6 bowls. Just so frustrating everyone plays the exact same (some good some really bad) when there is a lot of plays offensively that can be effective and throw off your opponent. however everyone wants to be a sheep and try to play like the pros who are playing for money. I get why they do it but everyone else who is trying to play a “football“ game learn some different shit and have fun with it, the game would be much more enjoyable.

61 really struggles vs people who make quick reads and are good at trips TE, and Empty formations but I think passing wise the easiest stuff to copy is bunch, and tight y off and 61 dominates those formations. Dollar annoys me the most because I can't run on it but when I run it people run all over it. As far as playing realistic simulation football, that shit really ends in mut after zero chill, the meta and cheese is so well known. It's all over youtube, and twitter, everything about the game has been exposed at that point and there is no room for anyone to be creative and unique if they also want to try and win every game.

I agree and it’s sad lol. Everyone who runs the 61 or dollar does it bc as you said Its good against gun tight and bunch which is also what everyone runs. I’ll struggle w the people that are really good with it but if they’re mediocre they will be quitting before half  time. Especially bc  they haven’t seen half the shit I run on offense and are not capable of stopping it ..unless of course they are getting bailed out by KOs and other abilities but that’s a whole other topic lol.

I run 61, but I also tear 61 apart when my opponent runs it. So, I don't think it's that OP of a defense. I think it's very exploitable. I struggle a lot more with a good dollar defense, but again I suck at dollar and can't get stops when I use it lol

I suck at this game. I try to play like a real football game.  I haven't memorized what every single defense or offense is going to do. It sure seems like my opponent always knows where I am throwing my next pass.  I guess I could watch pros play on YouTube  and learn what they do, but that seems like a bigger waste of time than a unic paying for a prostitute.Â
This is my first year playing since 2004 and first time ever online.
