I feel like most abilities have ways to counter them but Vanguard is so overpowered. With the right scheme and personnel, most runs will turn into positive yardage on every outside run.

I feel like that only works half the time. It’s also hard to have that on every player on your defense AP wise.
Spinner and Sam will blitz can get to the hb b4 they reach the outside

100% Vanguard is one of those few totally "broken" abilities that should not ever be in the game. The only chance we really have is to stack the defense with as many Reinforcement players as possible. Both my SUBLBs are now using this (as an X-factor) and in the past ~couple days i've finally managed to add a pair of Reinforcement cornerbacks. Wasn't sure who to take from my Golden Ticket (S7 level 24 BND set), ended up grabbing Bavaro, just in case... to give me the flexibility against heavy Vanguard toters.
Bonus points for also adding Out My Way, this also makes sense. However, please be advised this will merely give us a CHANCE (not guaranteed) to win against Vangaurd. Your assessment is spot-on, very difficult when no direct counter even exists.
Mad props to EA for managing to keep the meta evolving for MUT well into June (and perhaps even July?), but things are getting a bit out of hand, if not outright ridiculous.

FACTS. Amen, brother. There's a handful of abilities that should NOT be in the game. It's frustrating that we cannot pass the ball unless/until we get some type of velocity ability on our QBs (SFL or PLE), the Jukebox/Evasive ability has been ridiculously overpowered ALL year. And of course Vanguard, as you pointed out.
The amount of close games i've seen, against opponents with as close to zero skill is beyond ridiculous. Sadly, M25 will be yet another clone of this buggy ass, broken game. Should at the very least be a permanent game-mode without abilities. That wouldn't be difficult or even time consuming to implement and has the potential to make the game MUCH more accessible, especially to newer players. Could even be a no-ability option for MUT Draft, which is all but dead, IMO.

Man, if they had a game mode that had no abilities I’d be all on that. What’s currently going on just takes away any fun from it. Going through a string of opponents and they all run a heavy vanguard set out of single back, I-form, jumbo or strong formation. It gets old quick 😂

That mode is called Mut Draft. Sadly they have not updated the roster pool all year.
