Got it, thx.
Does the player have to be on the field for it to activate?

Yes
SlowAndSteady said:I have recently seen some posts/comments about Defensive Rally. I decided the best way to determine what information is accurate would be to thoroughly test it myself.
Here are my findings:
- When Defensive Rally activates it will restore one pass rush point to all players that are lined up as a DE/DT in the formation. (In the playbooks this position will be shown as a SQUARE shape on the D-line)
- It makes ZERO difference if it’s a DE/DT/OLB. It only matters where they are lined up in the formation for that play.
- Having multiple players on the field with Defensive Rally equipped on 3rd/4th down will result in multiple pass rush points restored for each player lined up at DE/DT. (one pass rush point restored per Defensive Rally equipped)
Examples for reference:
- If you have Jeffery Simmons at DT with Defensive Rally in Dime 14 ONLY Jeffery Simmons will receive ONE restored pass rush point on 3rd/4th down.
- If you have Jeffery Simmons at DT with Defensive Rally in 52 Normal ALL FIVE players lined up at DE/DT will receive ONE restored pass rush point on 3rd/4th down.
- If you have Jeffery Simmons and Richard Seymour at DT, Matthew Judon at RE, and Mario Williams at LE ALL FOUR with Defensive Rally in Nickel Over ALL FOUR will receive FOUR restored pass rush points on 3rd/4th down.
Side notes I learned from testing:
- A pass rush point is restored to each pass rusher after the first play on each defensive drive.
- At least one pass rush point is restored to each pass rusher after calling a timeout or a two minute warning.
About my testing:
Testing was done by usering several different players on the D-line in several different formations. I was constantly using the Bull Rush Move to drain the pass rush points of the player I was usering so that I could monitor the changes when Defensive Rally activated on 3rd/4th down.
Formations Tested:
Ravens Playbook-44 Split, Nickel 24, 33 Cub, Dime 14, Dime 23, Dime 23 Will
49ers Playbook-43 Even 61, 52 Normal, Nickel Over, Nickel Wide, Dollar 32
*All tests were done on PS4. This is the only console I have to test on, so I can’t guarantee the results will be the same on other consoles.
So technically, for MUT purposes, if you have one player with defensive rally twice. It should restore 2 points correct?
Good analysis. I’ve always wondered how PR pts and Blocker Resistance interacted, if at all.
im using charge up blitz and one d rally and I get good pressure.
my assumption is PR pts determine the number of “shed attempts” remaining for a given play, while resistance affects win rate/shedding speed

Yes sir, you get it.

I have never tried equipping the ability twice on the same player. I may have to give this a shot and see if it actually stacks on the same player.

Yes please do! And reply so I'll get the noti when you test it please lol

Finally tried this and you can‘t equip defensive rally twice on the same player.
Why am I even running a theme team anymore?
Time for me to run Double or Nothing, El Toro, and Interior Threat/Edge Threat Elite on Kearse, Sapp, Davis, and Turner for 0 AP. I only need four Defensive Rally abilities, which everyone but Sapp can equip for 0 AP. I'll add Fiske later if a 5-2 becomes useful, but I can run 4-3 Over or Under with Robinson and Oweh. All of the defensive backs have Universal Coverage. I'll just man the middle linebacker to my opponent's runningback, run zone, pass commit, and user random linemen.
There are probably people already doing this, and I'm late to the game.

It’s not as good as you would hope. El Toro seems to do nothing this year and Secure Protector makes all of this dice rolls no matter how many pass rush points and abilities you have.

Holy crap this is an ancient post, but first time I'm seeing it and THANK YOU for taking the time to provide such a detailed and well-written report of your Defensive Rally testing scenarios. I learned a whole heck of a lot from this, had absolutely no idea that DR could stack and provide additional pass rush points. This could be super interesting when paired with stuff liek Bull Rush or Double or Nothing, which can help guarantee superwins.

Yeah I was kinda surprised when someone commented on this post about a month ago. The info is from MUT23 and during a time when Secure Pro wasn’t being used at all. With our current H2H gameplay having Secure Pro on all o-line I don’t think D-Rally should be a major focus. I would still recommend using it if you can put DoN on most of your d-line but I think the majority of sacks are coming from:
-Blitzing/creative scheme
-QB holding the ball too long
-QB rollout and DE gets a quick shed from No Outsiders
There are some dice rolls that result in super wins but with Secure Pro I feel like it’s not very frequent.
*Also want to be clear with the words here, D-Rally doesn’t add pass rush points it restores used pass rush points. If the points are full and D-Rally activates it does absolutely nothing.

Thank you for correcting my poor terminology. For a while, I was using Relentless on Aaron Donald, which paired nicely with DoN, always keeping him at max pass rush points. All your information is so spot-on correct, basically detailing my exact experiences.
Most of my pressures are coming from quick A-gap blitzes (using mostly 3-3 Odd lately), or the B-gap from overloading the weak side in 3-3 Cub or simple disengage when rushing with four down linemen sets. I was only interested in Defensive Rally again all of a sudden due to the overwhelming amount of ability options we now have. Who do you prefer as your primary pass rushers? I've got Aidan Hutchinson (LE), Mario Williams (DT1), John Randle (DT2) and Jevon Kearse (RE) with Junior Seau & Dave Robinson (although i keep confusing him with the Spurs center and i want to continually call him "David" heh) as my outside linebackers. Of course Caleb Jones as my primary USER.
I also bring in Ray Nitschke in the rare event i need to run 3-4 Odd, this is how i try to defend against the heavy run formations. Good to know there is some tangible benefit to stacking Defensive Rally.
