William Perry definitely literally everyone I play has him
Shaun Alexander of course. Angry Runs, Truzz, FOF and evasive all for a combined total of 2 AP?!? It's not even up for debate.

Not even up for debate??? 98% of people have Hutch which kills that Angry Runs. I'll take a built in freight train and FOF with Gibbs all day over Alexander plus about 4 more abilities for 0 ap over Shaun's stack at 2.

walter still clears shaun imo but yeah shaun’s solid
theperkness said:Heck yeah bro, I was truly surprised how good Brooks ability stack was and how well he played, I think Gibbs is #1 now with baked on FOF + FT, whereas with Brooks I've got FOF as my charge up XFactor, but I've gotta determine if I wanna use any of my remaining stack on what at surface looks to be a marginal upgrade.
Seeing Gibbs gets Balance Beam free is huge though, I had never tried it, but as I acquired more Vanguards I was finding I was often stumbling on or even getting tackled by pancaked defenders, which made finding lanes a little more difficult with so many defenders getting free tackle and shed abilities, plus seemingly cleared defenders still being able to affect me.
But once I activated Balance Beam I noticed a HUGE difference in how easily my RB manuevered past caked defenders, with seemingly no slowdown and not wasting my free break tackle or juke. Once I felt this diff I was able to start running a lot more freely without having to think about whether my path might get disrupted by a defender who couldn't hit me but could stumble me or indirectly tackle me, and it's been an incredibly noticeable difference in my confidence running the ball and freeing my mind to think about moving past the next STANDING defender. It feels like Perry back on the OBJ grind all over again :D
FWIW I never tried nor considered Balance Beam until yesterday, and only think it's useful for running when you have guys that cake. I recommend trying it out and curious how you find it!
You motivated me to push forward, finally managed to build my first RP set, now i just have to settle upon the proper selection for my initial choice. After all this chatter, i'm leaning towards Brooks, as i suspect I'll need to exchange my Gibbs for the second RP set, as I doubt i'll have enough pieces to build another.
Super interesting stuff you have to say about Balance Beam. I was running that on my kick returners and continue to dabble with it on my HB, although lately i'm using the fall forward to gain extra yards and Energizer. Mostly due to the fact that right before i read this post yesterday, I had a beautiful run to the left all set up and a huge, gaping hole opened for me to stride ~10-15 yards into the endzone, but i ended up tripping over top of a pancaked defender... even WITH Balance Beam. So i got frustrated and removed it. Underrated ability for sure, it was one of the very first things i think i applied last August. Will without a doubt give it a second look.

- 1AP Truzz
- 0AP Tank
- 1AP Angry Runs (this is less impactful now that basically everyone has Secure Tackler or Tackle Supreme)
- 2AP Jukebox
- 0AP First One Free (this kind of sucks, barely mentionable, but it's baked on)
In a perfect world i'd also have 1AP Energizer, but using that elsewhere at the moment. Having both Tank + Truzz is wonderful to ensure we can actually hold onto the ball, which was the primary motivating factor behind my choices here. Lots of effort for just one card, but Shaun is nearly as shifty a runner as Jamaal Charles, while being almost as physical as a big Brandon Jacobs style runner. I haven't tried Walter (nor BeastMode), or even Perry... seeing a TON of all three. There's a LOT of really decent featured backs at the moment.
Energizer works in your opinion? I never tried it I just read somewhere that it wasn’t useful

Oi yeah I’ve gotten tripped up a few times during hurdle animations, but I still feel more confident running with BB on. It’s a small sample size but with so many buckets I think it’s worth.
For my other RP I went CB Arnold to try a bottleneck man scheme, but I got torched by crossers so just put Ward back in. If I could pick again I think I’d try WR Rome

Energizer has a VERY specific use-case. It will allow ball carriers to make more than 2-3 jukes in a single play without exhausting their stamina bar. Great for kick returners and running backs.
On sideline runs I'll regularly juke back inside to evade a defender, then will immediately juke to the outside in hopes of breaking it big... at which point we'd be out of stamina. Energizer allows extended runs, or the potential for.

I ended up taking Brooks, but haven't yet tried him. Really loving Gibbs. Have so many great receivers all of a sudden, but probably going to take Odunze WR next. My DBs are looking great at the moment, added BND Randy CB last night from level 14 RP Field Pass reward, was amazed pack allowed us to choose from ALL Golden Tickets.

no bro he’s not fun he’s annoying as fuck and is used for players who don’t have skill
After employing Shaun Alexander on my LA Se49ulls team, I switched to Marshawn Lynch as my RB1 for Seagles. Marshawn is better with an active X-Factor, while Shaun Alexander is solid when Aidan Hutchinson's Momentum Shift is active.
Getting used to spelling my HB's on half of my plays. I love when I can trigger Zoned Out to get Aidan's nonsense off the table.
