The guy doesn’t even play WR but he takes a kickoff to the house every 2-3 games. Anyone else having the same experience with this dude?

Try out Billy. I'm telling you. The Return Man and Yac Em abilities has him break the first two tackles. Combine that with a few Vanguards on the return team and you're gold. I use 6 on the return team and it looks like a grave yard after that second broken tackle.

What positions with vanguard play on the kick return team?

It depends a bit how you have your depth chart set up. TE1, TE3, FB1, FB2, WR4, KR2, PR1 are all positions that can play special teams and have players with vanguard. Backup LBs will also play on special teams. So if you have Caleb Jones, he can be another useful vanguard player at LOLB2, ROLB2, or MLB2.
In general, I'd say make sure all your FBs and TEs have vanguard if you want to be at least a little cheesy with it.

YES. I honestly thought it was all the Vanguards clearing wide open swathes to run through, but i haven't had this much fun returning kicks since i first restarted my Madden journey. He's been an absolute stud, i think i returned two for tutties last evening.
I've been running ole Billy-boi as Slot1 receiver, just because. Wish he had a Bottleneck beating ability, but he's fantastic otherwise. Devin Hester's 94 OVR AKA Crews was pretty nice, but Billy has been super special. You are not alone, my good sir.
