Should I Expect Any Pass Caught to Be Knocked Out If...

...my receiver wasn't running an AI-beating cheese route, or wasn't freeformed on a rollout glitch?

To me it looks like stock passing plays are just dead, dead, dead. In Champs I keep getting matched up against rosters with Universal Coverage across the board for the entire secondary. I get no separation. All of my completions seem to come on spaces vacated by the user because he anticipated badly.

As a side note, my opponents continue to get insta-sheds, while I get almost zero pressure.

(Incidentally, I've never had Madden Points on my account.)

I'm not the best Madden player. I don't expect to win every game. I'm good enough to earn four- and five-game runs, but then fall into slumps where my defense is an absolute no-show play after play, game after game.

I’ve been seeing this as well it’s incredibly frustrating seeing the opponent getting insta sheds with 8 guys in coverage while I get no pressure whatsoever even if I blitz

Most of the time I see it it's because they're doing a specific defensive formation with 3 pre snap adjustments to glitch out the oline into not blocking. I get 2 seconds to throw it. I don't quit out against offensive cheese but I will if it's defensive cheese. It's pathetic.

You are basically correct with your assessment here, although it's been liek this for months.  Even before we had tons of Bottleneck, Man Press and/or Universal Coverage DBs, everyone was using Zone KOs in a similar fashion.  Making it EXTREMELY difficult to pass the ball, unless you're comfortable exploiting those sideline grabs / glitches, where regardless if the ball gets knocked out, the pass still counts as a "completion" anyway.  Pair that with an intense pass rush and the game is extremely difficult, at least on offense, or when trying to move the ball.

But there's always games where either myself or my opponent will have zero problem rumbling down the field.  Defenders constantly dumb out, no matter what we do.  Man is wildly inconsistent.

I'd encourage you to run more plays where you can send your TE and/or HB on short, fast developing routes, such as Drags, or Zigs or HB Angle (TexASS) routes out of the backfield.  I tried (briefly) to join the roll-out glitch cheesefest as that is some of THE most difficult to defend stuff i the entire game, but i wasn't competent enough to reliably get out of the pocket on each and every single down, even after swapping out Brady for RG3, so i could try to take advantage of max SPD/ACC.  I know that Mahomes is easily the best roll out passer in the entire game, but i cannot stomach that Slinger 2 release.  Really do not want to go back to that.  I'll probably just retire from Madden before i deal with Kermit as QB1 again.  Forced myself to use his SB MVP card for a minute.  Hated it.

As far as getting pressure on defense, a ton of folks are using Nickel 3-3 Cub to overload one side of the defense (shift your D-line away from TE), basically enabling you to send three rushers against only two blockers.  It's kind of difficult to stop, although if you know to slide your O-line protection OPPOSITE of the way the D-line has shifted, you should be just fine.  However, insta-sheds are going to keep happening, no matter what.

Do you have both Secure Protector + All-Day on your entire O-line?  That is the basic ability stack i would recommend for everyone.  Secure Protector helps to avoid the insta-wins right off the snap, then hopefully All-Day will kick in to give you a bit more than the usual 2-3 seconds to get the ball out.  Trying to pass from the pocket is an absolutely miserable experience right now.  I didn't even log on last night, couldn't muster the effort.

Five yes answers on All Day and Secure Protector. And yes, guys just get through completely unaccounted for. Constantly. All while I’m trying to find a gap in coverage while my guys get pressed.

I’m about at the point where I’m just going to go Solos to get my XP. What a boring way to play after building my team all year.

I give it 1-2 drives to find a way to beat the defense glitch blitz with passing. Once that fails I say f it and go vanguard n rpo to death for the win lol
