I am from Hong Kong where I don’t even know a single person who play madden or College football. It’s my second year of playing MUT and it’s been pretty fun. I don’t know much about American football so I tried to learn through watching YouTube tutorials. Last year I didn’t play any head to head, straight solos and challenges. This year I tried play H2H and of course I lost a lot. I just played a few MUT champs games and I won all of them. So is it based on skill level or just random selection of matchmaking?
It's my understanding that matchmaking in champs tries to match you with opponents that have a similar amount of wins in champs for that week. So it's somewhat skill based but you can definitely end up in games with opponents that are noticeably better or worse than you.
You've probably gotten better since you've started. But I also think the playerbase left in mut is a bit weaker overall. There's definitely good players who are still active. But I think a majority of the playbase has moved onto cfb 25

Thank you very much. Honestly, I just run the ball a lot coz I have no clue how to adjust route and how to pass accurately. And the vanguard ability helps me a lot but I understand why people hate it.
In my experience usually the first few games are easy and then once you start winning it will match you up with harder opponents. Kinda reminds me of skill based matchmaking in Call of Duty. Usually I'll start like 4-0 and then lose a few, and then win a few and so on.
Strange. I don’t get higher quality opponents when I win a lot of games in Champs. Sometimes they’re all over the place with their users, and do all kinds of dumb stuff on offense too. I do start giving up a lot of quick-sheds and dropping a lot of picks after stringing together a good number of wins.
I‘m not sure any of us really know for sure how “matchmaking” works.
I do know that if I play at night (PST), I get a lot of cheese users. I can expect a lot of rollout glitching and RPO spamming at those hours.

My experience as well. Go from nice casual games to total tryhard 4 pre snap adjustment cheese nerds.

I concur, some weeks i'll start off liek 9-0 and then get absolutely trounced over the next couple/few games. I think i'm currently hovering around 7-3 this week, with a few notable and devastating losses. The overall quality (and talent) of the playerbase is as low as it will ever be, so if you're trying to grind out some wins, now is probably the time. There's definitely still competent people playing, but it's becoming fewer and further between, based on my limited knowledge and experience.
I started to dabble with PlayStation Tournaments, to give myself some direction, since the MUT content is essentially over (one more / final Redzone Royale release, i assume, but that's about it for the year). Unfortunately, the tournament play is filled with kids bugging out the game to give themselves wins, despite what the score shows. Stay frosty out there.
Welcome, OP, from Hong Kong... lovely to have you here, we're all learning together.

Same… I find out if I play H2H games at night in Hong Kong time which is probably 12 hours difference from USA Eastern Time, people get a little bit weaker…but man I been losing 3 MUT champ games in a row after starting off 11-2… people are really good without using the vanguard run…

Nice to meet you…the madden community is really nice comparing to nba 2k which is my main game every year…One thing it sucks to play in Hong Kong is there is no PlayStation tournament for madden…maybe I am on a different server but from my understanding there is no Asia server for madden….as a matter of fact I don’t even know which server I am on😂

I honestly have no idea how the match-making truly works (or doesn't in many instances), but I have to assume we're getting directly paired up (maybe by ping times and whatever other game calculations go into this "fair" and hopefully competitive gameplay) -- some games i'm in excruciating lag-fests, other times the game mostly operates normal, but I can usually tell right from the kickoff if it'll be a 1-2 second delay with button presses. It can be horrendous at times. I'm unable to play competitive game modes while connect via WiFi, the slight additional latency is brutal.
Regardless, hail and well met from the Empire State.
EDIT: You have absolutely no idea how hilarious it is to hear you describe the absolutely toxic Madden community as "really nice" HAAAAAAAAA. I've barely ever played NBA2K online, i'm a complete novice and casual at that game, i can barely compete with my 11 year old son, heh.

Yea the latency and lag is definitely obvious when I tried to kick the field goal….the madden community actually gave me good advice and even when I was playing online and got blown out…some people told me what should I do instead and those were pretty good advice….on the other hand, I play rec 5vs5 on 2k and constantly get sold….and the funny thing is people come to game chat and blame you for everything even when they are the one selling
